Note is good but he isn't that good.
Got to say this really is what a battle between two thieves should look like. Reading the other opponent, reacting to their moves, concealing your cards, and baiting your enemy. Very much a highlight for me.

I'm sad to have finally finished this series. I wish the author would give us something like an epilogue at least.

I think it's just a gaming thing. From a quick search of the first volume on kindle, they're using the term exclusively when referring to the level of characters, and to some degree "base level" is shorter than "character level" and more specific than just "level" (as opposed to a "job level" or "ability level").

Obviously just my own speculation, but with how aristocratic tastes in the Trialist Empire tend to favor subdued class over garish impact, it seems likely that powerful tastes like mint would be considered offensive to the imperial palate—especially when factoring in the keen noses prevalent at the top of high society. Agrippina only eats the most privileged of meals if she even eats at all, and the added surprise at discovering that the lower classes considered this treat she'd never tried to be "bog-standard" is my best guess as to why she might find so much interest in a commonplace peppermint.

If it’s the former, then you answered the question.

If it’s the latter (as far too many here inquire about when we’re between books of a series), then it’s more of a case that it’s presumably coming, but we have to wait for J-Novel to say so to be sure. Like every other book here, more or less.

I’m waiting to see, but not anxiously. There’s still too much molding and harem-gathering for my tastes to be excited about this story. I’m waiting for the day when our main character decides to mold multiple swords at once and then has to cut them off the sprues afterwards. :)

I give this solid 3 out of 5 stars - it is a series that I will likely keep reading but I will not remember anything about it within a few months of reading.

Good points - MC goes straight for the throat of any issue without tiptoeing around, and he gets the girl(s); fast-paced development.

Weak points - endless low quality exposition, author seems to go by default in the opposite direction of the golden rule of writing show don't tell.

The only good chuckle from Vol 1 came with exposing Efil's Service (B) skill, in a uncharacteristically subtle application of the just mentioned show don't tell principle. Well, if "service" means in the source what I think it does. If I am mistaken, please don't dispel my illusion.

@heimdal7 Most of the ss were fan translated by the same person who did the web novel, not sure if all of them got done because there is a load and the writer dropped them all over, some we're con exclusives and others got randomly dropped on his social media.

The father/daughter duo solved the mystery of the windswept dunes. And now, completely smitten by Friede, Iori is going to Meraldia. And Friede is so enraptured and in awe of her dad's legacy, that she's going to work for him, and bringing Iori along for the ride. I wonder what her first job will be?
