That's a pretty fair point, especially taking into account how Aura immediately reacted. Though I'm not sure the author would go that far. The story hasn't really shown that level of depth thus far. It would be to the story's benefit if it did turn out to be true though.

Agreed on the first prince too. He really seems uh... quite terrible at best.

Probably a few potential reasons:

To help us better understand a formative part of Asuta's life that he doesn't talk about too much. Responding to questions the author had received from Japanese fans wanting to know more about their relationships and the extent to which it was romantic. As has also been said, a way to blunt the sting of the fact his friends and family will never see him again as it has the theme of "these childhood memories will live on and still have value even if we get separated". Presumably the author had already thought through for themselves what their backstory was, and so it makes sense when they needed a side story to flesh that out.

@Radiant if I remember correctly, she was even holding a bow with the other hand, yet she didn't use it for its intended purpose. She must really like throwing stuff.

I wonder if this volume was an exception or from now the flashbacks will focus on other characters rather than Yogiri. Anyway, as others said, I too hope we are going to see Asaka when Yogiri and Tomochika go back to Japan.

@nevin Yuki is very crass in Japanese as well. While you could argue that it could be possible to convey without as many explicit swear words in English, it's not out of character or an outright translation issue.

Popping in during catchup. WTF was that? The ending reminded me of Travellers (Netflix) but also gave off “this is all virtual” vibes. It seems like Ash is literally the phoenix god… as created by the ancient civilization’s nanotech. His recovery from the bear and werewolf attacks weren’t just luck and constitution but nanotech assists. The demons being tech means that the mysterious voices and vision were transmissions. All of which means that installing friendlies into the 2 enemy domains may or may not be necessary if they’re about to blow their whole society up. Although the author’s post scripts mostly makes it seem like that won’t happen? Genre whiplash.

Just starting part 2 and women keep sitting "on" their desks. Is that supposed to be "at" their desks?

What is hard is delaying romantic resolution as long as possible while still holding the attention of the reader/viewer by having a degree of progress.

I think a lot of these matters will be dealt very quickly but who knows? I certainly won't be against more volumes for the series.

I'm curious to see if we get romantic closure. On one hand, Sid might be the type who thinks is inappropriate fid a knight to marry his lord. On the other hand, Alma has to produce a heir sooner or later...
