Staff members of J-Novel Club are on the forums everyday, looking at pretty much everything.

Licensing unfortunately is not so simple that even if J-Novel Club wants a title they will 100% get it, we already know that they have not been able to secure several titles because the Japanese publisher (for whatever reason) didn’t want to give it to J-Novel Club.

The beginning of the thread starts with a list of which titles Hague been licensed by which company, that also have topics in that sub-forum.

@smashman42 Can you blame them, really? Major publishers have a lot invested. This "direct" program is a way for people to bypass that investment. Yes, the rules are different.

Some "major publisher" books have missed multiple deadlines. I'm waiting for the final book of a series that was originally scheduled for 11/19, then 03/20, then 05/20 (the date shown on Amazon right now), and (as of yesterday) to 09/20.

Are there penalties for them? Probably. But that's in their contract with Amazon.

@saskir There is definitely no virus, AV software blocks it because some of the techniques used in the javascript are similar to obfuscation techniques used by cryptominers, scams and other web malware

It's hard to say anything without knowing more specifics about what you're referring to, such as what series, which scenes exactly, etc. However, our regular releases are translated from the regular print version of the book, and our premium releases may have bonus store-exclusive or digital-only short stories included in them.

The "other translation" could also be from a web novel and not light novel, in which case the web novel could have been condensed/pared down when making the transition into a light novel.

If you believe that a book was not fully translated, please feel free to send an e-mail to contact@j-novel.club describing the exact scene with chapter numbers and/or print page numbers.

Unfortunately, that's out of our hands. Amazon resize and recompress all epub graphics uploaded to them and don't provide a way for companies to override their algorithms if there's a problem. They also don't provide a specification sheet which would allow us to submit a version which we know works.

I'm really sorry. The best I can tell you is to ask Amazon for a refund because they screwed up the book after uploading and then buy it from any of our other partner stores (Kobo, Apple Store, Google Play, Bookwalker) as none of them manipulate the images. Comixology does have some magic process which they run as well, but given that their platform is designed around the needs of graphic novels and comic art, the image quality will be non-deteriorated and our books are configured to work with Guided View.
