That's the downside of a true slice of life story I suppose, no big hook or novelty factor like ReLife had.

The only goal or overarching plot is mentioned right there in the synopsis in the first post - four screw ups trying to prevent having to repeat a year. People will either dig the whole coming of age thing of them working & growing together or find it boring as hell.

The MC starts off really weak too, they needed to flesh him out more way earlier than they did. Until we got those extra details of his backstory I didn't find him sympathetic at all & was more interested in all the other characters.

@legitpancake Crunchyroll has certainly sold my translations to other publishers before (Arakawa Under the Bridge and Tales of Wedding Rings) and that also happened with Parasyte from Del Rey and Goth from Tokyopop, but I would imagine different it's one of those 'every contract is different' things. Only thing certain is that translators have no control over it, get no bonus, and don't even get copies of the print editions when that happens.

To be fair, those two are relatively unknown series whereas Expelled From Paradise, IIRC, had a bit of advertising when it was released a few years ago, has mecha and more importantly, fanservice.

There is not much divergence between the anime and the LN, in my opinion, though of course there are moments that are greatly expanded, but this should be expected.

The novel is complete, 10 full volumes and 3 side stories. The series does not end up in the air, however the best way to describe it is "rushed" and it leaves the reader feeling unsatisfied i.e. half full. However, I would only describe that truly as the last volume.

Are there loose ends? Yes.
Are they significant and would prevent the story making sense? No.

Is it still worth a read? Absolutely, but it would never be top of the list.
Just my two pence on the matter.
