Yuuji Sakai, a high school student who expected his normal life to last forever, is dead. Just as the monster prepared to consume Yuuji, a sword-wielding girl in black attire with flaming red eyes and hair that burns like embers saved him from the monster. The girl called herself a Flame Haze who hunts the otherworldly Denizens of the Crimson Realm. As Yuuji noticed a blue flame in his chest, she called him a "Torch", a temporary replacement, saying that the real Yuuji's existence had already ended. Unfazed by his apparent death, Yuuji befriends the strange girl, names her Shana, and joins her fight against the Denizens and other Flame Hazes.Why?
Isekai fantasy is fine and all, but I find myself wishing for some good ol' urban fantasy series in the vein of Index, Daimaou, Fate, etc.Yes, I know it's long.
Yes, I know it's an old series.
Yes, I know it'd be a license rescue.
Yes, I know it probably won't be as popular as it was years back.
Yes, I know the 3rd anime season covered the ending. Though, from what I've read online, a lot of material leading up to S3 got skipped over.
This is just me holding on to a small hope that I may one day get to read the whole story in English. -
This is by far the one series I think I would ever suggest for a license rescue, as I've said in the Seven Seas survey thread. I want it so bad!
Eh, I wouldn't count ZnT, seeing as that never got a volume out.

Viz really screwed up the print release. I mean, look at these covers. One's the manga and one's the light novel, and they look practically identical.

This is the first anime series I actually got my wife to watch. It would be great to see the novels get translated, since Viz abandoned it.

I seriously want this series rescued. I own the two volumes that were translated by Viz back in the day, and it kills me to know that the anime had to cut so much of the material to be adapted at all, and that we still don't have a means to experience the story completely in English.
I've lent the first two volumes to friends, and they came back really happy with the books as a whole, and they were kinda bummed when I said that the books were not continuing beyond book two here in the west. Given that the series (through the manga, sure) was my "gateway" into my love of anime, manga, and of course, light novels, it sucks that I can't experience my favorite series in it's entirety.
Also, i think it would be a nice change of pace compared to the overflow of isekai light novels that seem to get released (I'm not sure if the titles coming out are still disproportionately isekai compared to everything else, but there is a lot of isekai @_@). It's got a premise that even my freaking grandmother is intrigued by, and she only recently got into Japanese stuff. The premise alone just kinda sticks out, because of the whole existential dread of... well, existence and how fragile it is. It's just really cool.

I read the Viz releases from a second dealer sale and I was disappointed when I found out that there were no further translations from the official license, so I would be happy if this ever got a license rescue.
The anime was also rather enjoyable, especially because I have a love for happy endings. Oh and the soundtrack was awesome.

Shakugan no Shana was my second anime I've ever watched, I still have the two volumes published back in the day. As much as I love and held the story dear, I don't care about the light novels anymore.

Although the third season adapted the light novels closely, the studio still made major changes in their adaptation. For example, Fumina Konoe does not exist in the light novel, and was purely an anime-only character but nevertheless still played a major role in the second season.
Due to Kadokawa's DMCAing, there are virtually no fan translations, so anyone interested in reading will have to purchase novels published by J-Novel, which is a plus for the company.

@doublemangekyo I also want this title to be rescued with uncensored art too. Viz cutout a bunch of artwork. Artist Nozoi Ito is a goddess at drawing. I really really want this to be picked up!
It's one of the series I believe is regrettable that it wasn't given a chance to finish due to poor PR decisions, and lack of foresight regarding light novels. Back then nobody thought light novels would sell well because of slow turn over. To have it abandoned after 3 months of the second volumes release was a mistake, because viz got blinded by greed expecting sales to match how anime and manga does. Viz didn't understand the light novel market and used an old business model. Now with the current digital age of ebooks and social media and the profitability of the light novel boom, I can guarentee Shakugan no Shana will be very popular. What can we do to get J-Novel Club to pick up the license for this series? I mean J-Novel Club rescued Crest of the Stars. Why can't this series be rescued?OH J-Novel Club gods! TELL ME WHY?!

What exactly are you basing this statement on?
Urban fantasy is not a money-maker anymore, isekai is.
I sincerely doubt Shana will be popular today. It's too old (ended almost a decade ago). People have moved on to other series.What can we do to get J-Novel Club to pick up the license for this series? I mean J-Novel Club rescued Crest of the Stars. Why can't this series be rescued?
Growing the overall LN market would make it more likely to get picked up.
Crest and FMP are much shorter series (being 9 and 12 vols. respectively), and JNC already had connections with their publishers. Neither of which is the case for Shana.
