The rifling does help, yes. Increased accuracy and range.
I'm still wondering how many volleys they were able to get in, and how many hits per horsemen were required to remove them from play.

I'm trying to remember.. there was mention of metal casing previously?
That'd dramatically speed up rate of fire even with single shot weaponry, if they're using breach loading case shot, or whatever the proper terminology is.
Akin to modern hunting rifles.

I believe the German word "Benefizkonzert" would be more commonly translated as "charity concert".
If I didn't know the German word, I would probably interpret "benefit concert" as the exact opposite - a concert for profit...

I suppose that is an accepted spelling, if google is to be believed, but I’m not sure that I’ve seen it before (not that I’m in an environment where it turns up with any frequency). I’m used to the spelling of accoutrements. Most of the google results seemed to prefer that version, too. YMMV, I guess. :)

@taapaye Hello, and thanks for the input! We looked into the various official localizations of the line in question while we were working on that particular reference, and ended up going with 'Gear Two' to line up with Viz's translation of the One Piece manga, in specific. There's no one size fits all solution to references that have been translated in multiple ways over the years, and it's an unfortunate inevitability that some readers who are familiar with the scene via the anime might find it a little jarring to not see it rendered as 'Second Gear,' but I hope this gives you some context as to why we made the call the way we did!

The sentence nearly always sounds better in my head when it’s absent, but something almost clicks in my head on occasion when it is there. I’m not sure if I’ve read a similar usage of the word, or it’s just close enough to some other word/usage (“naught but one”?).

Volume 5 - Part 6:
