As I recall, it was only ever stated he'd agreed to Myne's Blue Robes, not that he'd ordered it.
Now that you mention it, Sylvester exhibits some truly flexible thinking here, others nobles would never consider it. He's not deciding things solely by status and rank.
As for my posting, I think it can be to easy to just to type up something clever by half and just hit submit. I'll try to keep things more grounded and less speculative, while posting less often.
I had some time to kill this weekend and someone had mentioned the catchup option, so I went back and read through the Bookworm manga. Originally I ignored the manga as it feels like an abbreviated version of the story. Condensing it down into manga form though forces the story to be concise in spots. It doesn't add much to the discussion, but in Part 2, Volume 5, Chapter 5 page 31 Ferdinand uses an analogy, in replying to Rozemyne. He answers...
"Entirely as if you were educated in another language. Like a Foreigner who simply does not know the words of this land."
It's not much, but it's an admission from Ferdinand that some foreigners have different language and Yurgenschmidt's language isn't universal.
I'll have to reread the novel chapters leading up to the Trombe event, but I think we get the Cinderella story and cultural differences bit.
