So glad that "Why Shouldn't a Detestable Demon Lord Fall In Love" got picked back up here. It's a great little story. Sad that it only lasted 4 volumes, but it's still a great little story. I have all of the Sol Press releases, but will gladly rebuy them under JNC. I just can't have enough copies of this story.

Given that these releases aren't available for normal reading on the online reader, can these be tagged with an additional tag so they can be excluded when searching for new series? It's rather depressing when looking for new releases to find that they won't actually be available on the site. They should have a special tag so that it's more obvious that these aren't regular web releases.

It's a cute series. Everyone who buys it needs to top off their insulin supply to prevent a sugar overdose. Volumes 3-4 are 100% slice-of-family-life.

@HarmlessDave Honestly, It's my first time reading the series, but it's non-stop smiles from all the family goodness in Volume 3. Anima is such a relatable character in his worries and joys. I can't wait to see what awaits in the 4th volume.

@myskaros I'm new to J-Novel Club. I bought the digital release of the first volume of Detestable Demon Lord, but I can only read the first part that's available for preview. Will the other parts be available soon?

@WhippedCreame These ones are not streamed so you need to use the download option for the full book.

@WhippedCreame you have to download the epub, and then use another app/program to read that epub. You need to do that to access the coloured illustrations and minor bonuses for other series too btw.
The app/website only includes the prepub parts (or free previews in the case of Sol Rescues)

@WhippedCreame If you want to use a Kindle, Calibre can transfer epubs to it with one click. It's a free app - https://calibre-ebook.com/

@HarmlessDave Assuming you have software to support a version new enough to create a version Amazon approves of. They keep warning me that my MOBI uploads will fail soon, and my 4.x version refuses to send anything but MOBI to Amazon.

Or have you figured out how to get a current version of Calibre to run on Win 7?

Yikes, connecting to the internet with Windows 7 is a bad idea since it stopped getting updates 2 1/2 years ago.

You can still upgrade to Windows 10 for free if you google the steps, or there is a Linux version avialable.

@HarmlessDave Windows 10 by itself is a worse virus than anything you can catch online if you follow some really basic net hygiene.

@HarmlessDave "Upgrade" to Win10 is at best a side-grade. I've tried Win10 periodically since it came out, and even support a couple of Win10 computers. But no one in our company voluntarily moves to 10/11.

So, unless someone knows of a way to convince an older version of Calibre to send a condensed version of EPUB to Amazon, when they stop accepting MOBI files, I'll have to find a different way to deal with Amazon devices.

Oh, and yes, it's "condensed version" in many cases. I have things that I've bought the Amazon version of because the MOBI file exceeds 37MB, making it impossible to upload. Those files are even bigger as EPUB (or AZW3), so that's a non-starter.

CALIBRE is supported on Unbuntu and Fedora and likely other linux platforms

although I like me some win7, I understand that no one writes apps for it anymore

                                    I read banned books

@Jon-Mitchell Methinks the reasoning is more a test for compatibility than any real "we do something weird here" feature. If they're meeting spec for Linux, Win7 would still run it... except that they look at the version and say no.

There is another program that I use that is "Windows 10 required!" that will run fine on Win7. It just says it needs Win10 when it installs. That program does a LOT more than Calibre does, but it says "Win 10 required" because they MIGHT use something that only Win10 supports "soon". It would run on WinXP except that it requires 64-bit currently.

I get that some vendors say weird things nowadays. As @HarmlessDave says, Win7 "officially" died (insert date here) when Microsoft said it did. The date varies with how much you were willing to send them. But it doesn't mean it stopped functioning.

Version 4 of Calibre "does not work" on Win7 (except it works just fine). V5 and V6 simply don't install on Win7. Do they work? Cannot say - I won't install Win10 long enough to install it then run it on Win7.

Version 4 will do other kinds of exports, including sending EPUB files, to various places. It just insists on using MOBI to send to Amazon right now. If someone can tell me how to have it send EPUB to Amazon, I'd appreciate it, as I can probably figure out how to restrict the size to what Amazon allows (37mb).

@SomeOldGuy I tried V6 Portable and it wouldn't even start on Win7. There are reports that V5 might work... or might give you nothing but a black screen, depending on drivers. I didn't bother testing since V3 still works fine for my purposes.

My talking sword has a point. And is also right.

@Gamen Are you sending EPUB to Amazon now? Mine insists on sending MOBI if Amazon is the target. It's convenient because the MOBI is smaller... but inconvenient (soon) that Amazon will stop accepting MOBI.
