Ascendance of a bookworm part 4 volume 9

Hey Im new to all of this, but I was just wondering when part 4 volume 9 of ascendance of a bookworm would be translated. When I first used the site, multiple volumes were scheduled, but we've caught up to volume 8 and I havent seen any info on volume 9.

Once a series is caught up with Japan, there is a longer wait because the license for each new volume must be negotiated with the publisher, the materials must be received from Japan, the work must be scheduled, then enough of it must be done to begin releasing the pre-pub parts.

It might help to know that JNC has never dropped a series except one where the Japanese publisher removed the title from the market (New Life +)

Aside from the comment above, a new volume is not added to the schedule until an older volume has finished streaming, so at any given time there will only be 1 ongoing volume on the schedule, not more.
The link in the post above (or my post signature) details how new volume starts and the schedule is typically handled at J-Nobel Club.
I encourage you to read that post, the short answer is typically new volumes are not added to the schedule until the day they start pre-publication on the site.

Considering Japan in ahead of us by 10 books I guess we will have around 2 years of steady 1 book per 2 months schedule before it slows down.

Actually, the specific calculations for Bookworm project the series being finished in Japan shortly before the English version catches up.
Think of it like an express train speeding down a line while the last of the rails are still being laid, and yet managing to pull into the station on-time in the end.
Just with less destructive consequences for failure. -

As @piisfun noted, Bookworm's going to finish before we get caught up. Mostly because there are only three volumes left to publish in Japan (by the author's estimation), and they're going at around three or four months a volume. We, meanwhile, are thirteen from the end (more if they need to have volumes beyond P5V12). JP would need to slow down to eight months a volume for the last three volumes for EN to catch up.

@TheGrimLich not to mention the possibility of breaks to allow for better scheduling of the sidestory volumes and fanbooks.

The way J-Novel Club does scheduling is unusual, and I remember how I was confused when I didn't see an upcoming volume on the schedule. However, I've come to think that this way of doing things is more reliable and accurate than putting a bunch of future volumes on the schedule. It allows adaptation to changing circumstances.
For Bookworm in particular, the team has been extremely reliable for making an update every week. There have only been a few times when it wasn't updated weekly. Most of those were mentioned on the forums in advance. Once was because the translator was literally struck by lightning!

@strangeattractor Cool. Thanks for the quick response. I genuinely love these books and it would be terrible if they started slowing down or outright canceling the translations. I've seen that j-novel has been picking up quite a few new licenses and was thinking ascendance of a bookworm might get put on the back burner or something.

- Bookworm is one of JNC's best selling and most popular series. No way would it ever go on the back burner.
- JNC have never willingly cancelled a series.

The translator for Bookworm is the esteemed Quof, and the editor is Kier. It looks like Quof was not assigned to any of the new series, and Kier is editing one additional series, the Skull Dragon's Daughter manga. So likely their workflow won't be affected much.
I think someone else does the text graphic design for the English covers, so it is possible they might have more work with all the new series.

Quof is very good at telling us if there is going to be a break week and why. Since I've started reading on here it's only happened a couple times and it's usually to make scheduling easier/give a buffer. The Bookworm team works very hard to make sure we get our Mynedays. If you don't read the AofB forums regularly it might be worth it to at least skim or search for Quof's posts if you have concerns in the future.
If you're reading other series on here there is usually a break week(s) when a volume ends before the next volume begins just keep that in mind and sometimes they have to do licensing stuff which can take even longer. Bookworm's schedule spoils us, it's not the norm

It's much less frustrating than preorders for Yen Press books where you think you're getting a book in 3-4 weeks and it's suddenly pushed back anywhere from a week to a month.
A couple of times I've settled onto the couch expecting the new volume of a series to be downloading to my kindle, had nothing appear, and had to go to the Amazon website to see that I won't be reading it any time soon.

@seltzermx I haven't seen any other volume discussions break 1k posts before the volume even finishes getting translated.

@seltzermx we're a vocal community, but the biggest sellers have readers who are less engaged and just consume.
Smartphone and Arifureta are typically two of the top picks for their best sellers, with most of their sales coming from Amazon. I think Realist Hero and How NOT to Summon A Demon Lord were also outselling Bookworm in the past.
