@Kotenmaru This episode was also pretty faithful to the LN. They did drop some of black winds shenanigans during the fight scene tho.

Thinking back, the only thing the first King of Toraj failed to do, was introduce a Japanese Tea Ceremony. Watching/reading about Efil doing that for Kelvin would have been fun.

Looking to the next few years of Ascendance of a Bookworm.

The hero apparently does not have his lucky lecher skill in the anime... That running gag will be missed.

@mortcs It would be at best an informed attribute in the anime. Since it's only been demonstrated against Colette and his three party members in the novel. Mostly thanks to Kelvin's efforts to keep his grubby mitts off Efil and Sera.

@mortcs As @endoftheline said, we never see Touya's "Lucky Lecher" powers in person, only through side stories in someone else's PoV, so it's nothing out of the ordinary for it not to be here. I always attributed it to Sera's luck, which is border-line reality bending in the LN, countering it since she wouldn't want that to happen.

@Kotenmaru Oh right, I remember Sera's luck getting mentioned in context of the Lucky Lecher skill not going off, I think it was only mentioned once when they met in Toraj. Mostly I just recall how Kelvin exhausts himself watching out for that skill whenever the parties meet.

And.... here happened what I talked about before.

How do anime only figure out who Kelvin means when he says that Rio's name remind him of someone unpleasent and if she could take another name. Sorry for those that argued that Rio will get maybe the name Leo when she reincarnates.

@saskir To be fair, I think most of us were more scared that the subtitle team would mess up by calling Rion "Leo" or something similar to make it work. I do find it funny that Rion is the only R name that the subtitle team hasn't switch to an L, maybe because she's a main character.

Now I'm wondering what's going to happen if the anime gets far enough to get to his family crest since they changed Celsius Briar to Rigid Briar.

The entry for Clive was pretty good, it really lays down enough of the ground work for his abilities already. The zombie stares those women had…

Can’t wait for the next few episodes to play out.
