I updated the app on my phone to version 1.0 and discovered that whenever I'm using cellular data for internet access the app doesn't work.
It gives this message on the release tab: "Failed loading releases: No response received from server - SocketExpection: Read failed (OS Error: Connection reset by peer, errno = 104), address = labs.j-novel.club,port = 52286"
And a similar message on the series tab. The account tab just says "Failed loading user data from server"

I've also discovered that when trying to open a release on the mobile version of the website it gives a 404 error when on cellular data. Likely related to the previous issue.

I use an Honor 20 Lite with Android OS version 10.

I'm reading this now from my Samsung S21 via Verizon and just got done reading a chapter of something via the beta app. So it's not a universal issue at least.

Maybe something blocked by the carrier?

@masterofbeings Your carrier would be like Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, etc.

@myskaros my sim provider is Virgin Mobile. But while the mobile version of the website has had the issue for a while, the app stopped working when i installed the new version.

@masterofbeings What happens when you try to visit https://labs.j-novel.club/ on the same data connection where the app fails?

@masterofbeings That would explain things, but also raises more questions for me. You have to be able to load labs.j-novel.club for the app to function, so if you can't load it in a web browser, of course the app won't be able to load it. But there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to load it. Follow up questions:

                    • Can you load https://j-novel.club on the connection where you can't load https://labs.j-novel.club ?
                    • Can you screenshot the error you are getting in your browser when trying to load labs.j-novel.club?

It loads, but I get a 404 whenever i try to open a chapter.

I don't know how to put images in this but it says:
                      "The site can't be reached
The web page might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.
                      ERR_QUIC_PROTOCOL_ERROR"

@masterofbeings I altered a setting on our side. Can you try again and let me know if anything changed?

Is this issue still being investigated, cause I used the app every morning when going to work but can't anymore.

@masterofbeings We're still investigating, we just don't have any updates at this time.

@masterofbeings This is just a guess from me, but do you maybe have "data saver" or some kind of option turned on in your OS to try and save data when using a cellular connection? It's possible that's trying to use some kind of web caching system that's messing up our new API servers.
Try turning that off and seeing if it works.

@masterofbeings If this did not change it, then there's not much else I can do. My best guess is that something is meddling with the connection between J-Novel Club (Cloudflare) and your device

@chocolatkey I found the issue at last! The problem was Virgin Media's parental control setting. Disabled parental control and it now works fine!

Thank you for your help anyways.

@masterofbeings Thanks for reporting back to us with the root cause! I don't think we had heard of that one before :)

@myskaros Virgin Media must have hired people from Amazon...

                                        "But the blueprints..."
