Got 2 volumes of this. Second volume is dated January 2020 and I don't see more on sale anywhere. Web novel version has got mileage on it and reviews are favourable all around. Anyone got info on this?

The title is axed in Japan. There will not be any further official volumes, as far as anyone knows.

It does appear that the LN translator got permission from the author to continue translating the WN.

Do we know the reason for it? First volume got top reviews both in Japanese and in English sites. Why axe a good series? Because failed marketing?

I think we can assume that Amazon banned it because of that one pedo-ish scene and illustration in volume 1, but that doesn't explain it being axed completely.
It's a pity.

Thanks, bookmarked. Good to have if I ever have time to read the two volumes from here.
Wonder what happened? The author only has a couple older works aside this and doesn't seem to be working on anything new.

We don't know, but poor sales is the reason behind most axes. Unfortunately, "good" and "profitable" are not synonims, and there are plenty examples of that.
@Argonometra I assume you're talking about buddhist manthra bathing scene? It is very mild by LN standards, so that's definitely not the case, not to mention that both volumes are still up for sale. Moreover, japanese branch seem to not care about that, and doesn't delist much worse "offenders" like,for example, 伯爵家女中伝, where some scenes are not -ish by any stretch of imagination.
