    Now that we're inching slowly toward spring, it's time to start fresh on some new catchup series!

    One of our most popular titles, How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom follows the exploits of Souma Kazuya, a summoned hero who revamps national policies and introduces new forms of entertainment rather than fighting monsters! (Though he does some of that too!)

    It had a recent anime and has another season coming soon—rebel against the world with Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest! Hajime is betrayed and left to rot in a deadly otherworld dungeon, but sacrifices his emotions and values to forge himself into a powerful warrior. As he journeys, though, he meets irreplacable companions who help him regain what he lost as he searches for a way back home.

    Last, we've got a plethora of short 1-3 volume series, for those of you looking for variety, or just something that requires less commitment :) Check out Brave Chronicle, ECHO, Gear Drive, Me, a Genius?, Yume Nikki, Occultic;Nine, Side-by-Side Dreamers, and Walking My Second Path in Life for a quick light novel fix!

    That's over 30 volumes to read for J-Novel Club members! Check them out today!

    New light novel prepubs launched in March:

    • Arifureta Zero: Volume 4
    • Kokoro Connect: Asu Random Part 1 (Volume 9)

      Just gotta recommend Second Path in Life to everyone! It's a super fun series and totally worth reading. Yea it left a lot of unanswered questions that were never resolved, but it didn't end on a cliffhanger.

          I second what LegitPancake said about Second Path. It's a great read despite the series being stuck in hiatus. Ditto for Gear Drive. Both have fun, spunky girls as main characters.

            @legitpancake I really want to know how Fie would be able to get a divorce or annulment once King Roy figures out who Heath is... Or she finds out who Yore is...

            "But the blueprints..."

              Great, I really want to give a try to Realist hero, see why it's so popular. Me, a genius also seems like a cool concept.

              Do you like death, war and misery ?
              Do you like badass op loli who let nobody got in their way ?
              Do you like vengeance story?
              If so then then vote for The girl who ate a death god

                Highly recommend "Walking My Second Path in Life" and "Realist Hero".

                Also... this hits 5/6 titles that I initially passed on when they were going up, so I'm nearly qualified to critique the whole catalogue. :P

                    @legitpancake Sounds a lot like Me, A Genus? Though it ends on a Gear Up scene, the story in the chapter ended, but it started the next chapter's story.

                      @terabyte

                      Never watched it, but I can see why Arifureta would flop as an anime. It isn't the kind of story that works in a medium with 24 or 48 minute episodes. Same goes for Realist Hero. A story like Ascendance of a Bookworm might be possible, but even that would be a stretch.

                      Sadly, there is only one title on this month's list for me to pick up. I have either read or am not interested in everything else. But that's somtimes what you get from a semi-free grab bag, so oh well.

                        @piisfun It can work, but only if they don't cut out critical parts of the story rushing ahead. Just 2 examples: the anime basically skipped almost an entire volume in ~3-4 minutes of non-voiced static scenes and it contains the worst CGI scenes I've ever seen (those really ruined it the most for me, even beyond the butchered story).

                          Do Gear Drive and Me, A Genius? reach acceptable stopping points, since we might never get more volumes?

                          I realize it won't be an ending, but a good pause point is fine.

                            I've read Genius. I wouldn't say that the story felt complete so not a great stopping point, but on the other hand it was relatively short and was a comedy rather than a mystery so it's not like a huge investment of time was betrayed or anything. I still enjoyed what I read would still recommend people check it out despite it ending prematurely.

                            Stay shiny, y'all.

                              @harmlessdave

                              Gear Drive ends with a scene like “and now my journey begins”

                              But it was not very satisfying to me, It had such a great start and flowed so well till the end of the book.

                              It left me wanting more.

                              Sorry but J-Novel Club does not publicly comment on any potential licensing decision or acquisitions.

                                For Me a Genius?, if you read it up until volume 2 it's kinda alright. But volume 3 ends with a cliffhanger and the author never wrote volume 4 (which was supposed to be the ending).
