This is the last known update on Bakarina: https://forums.j-novel.club/topic/2690/delays-in-continuing-series
It was supposed to resume in November, but unseen circumstances have delayed it. Half the volume is also manga, which further compounds the situation, apparently.

@legitpancake is a manga not usually having less text to translate than a pure novel?

@serah they really can’t be compared like that, yes the text may be less, but you also have to take sound effects into account.

Additionally even if the manga is all done they still need to figure out a way to put the manga in the LN reader they have, which is a different reader then the Manga reader.

Sorry but J-Novel Club does not publicly comment on any potential licensing decision or acquisitions.

@serah At issue is that the English text is formatted left to right, but the manga is right to left.

In some print books, there is a page that says "skip to page XX and read the manga r-t-l, then continue." Konosuba does this. It isn't quite so easy for an epub.

            "But the blueprints..."

@Rahul-Balaggan @SomeOldGuy I see. I imagined it fairly easier like with - keeping the manga pages the way they are with a reverted paging while the rest is kept the same. To be fair: I cannot remember I ever paid attention to the sound effect stuff and such. But yeah, reader wise it might be a huge issue. I always prefer for text to use my e-ink reader. But for manga I always switch to tablet.

Now I am curious how the editor is going to solve it.

@someoldguy The ebook does the same for Konosuba.

Can't they just keep the page turning the way it is and just have a note before the manga section to swipe left to advance and read from right to left?

@village-idiot The Konosuba ebook volumes have that message instead of turn to page x in the print version.

                      @sniper_samurai

they could disable pagination and make it so one has to scroll vertically
but I think the bigger problem is that the file-type/format for pre-pubs (text) doesn't support manga format
and just jpeg inserts may be an issue too

                      I'm trying to be patient

                      I read banned books

@jon-mitchell Yeah, they had that issue with a volume of Clockwork Planet. A couple of the pages were text images as they were colour inverted and caused pagination on the part to take multiple minutes.

@serah Which is probably part of the reason for the delay. Swapping pages doesn't easily work if a frame spans two pages. Come to think of it, an e-reader might have a problem with that, no matter what order the pages are in.

I remember I have seen the amazon kindle version of "How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom" manga solved that issue with panels spanning over two pages solved it greatly on tablets.

Whenever a panel is going through two pages, it offers an option to switch from vertical to horizontal mode just for the affected pages/panel - producing amazing looking widescreen images.

Taking that into consideration, I remember seeing good instructions/warning in a picture book which is available for kindle, telling the customer that certain parts are no good on e-ink readers and a tablet is recommended to enjoy it.

To be direct: I would not expect more than that and would be already satisfied, considering I know what my ereader is capable of and not. And my ereader is certainly not capable of me enjoying coloured comics or comics which are clearly made to be enjoyed at a larger size than my ereader.
