      Hello,

I'd love to sign up for a membership, but I do not own a credit card at the moment and am still not quite sure if I want to go tough the hassle, as I'm quite capable of living without one in Europe. PayPal being discussed multiple times already and dismissed, I thought of adding support for SEPA Direct Debit. I heard from the other forum posts that that this site is using Stripe which would support it, but I have no idea on how hard it would be to add.

Because JNC have Stripe as their sole payment processor it might be Stripe who you would have to lobby to get your payment type accepted.

        Stay shiny, y'all.

As I already stated, Stripe does support SEPA already. I don't know how different it is implementation-wise as Credit Card tho.

I would imagine the biggest issue is the fact that it could take up to 14 days for the charge to be accepted (with 5 days being the average timespan) and that the seller (JNC in this case) has to keep re-querying the transaction to see if it's been marked successful.

That might work for single transaction billing like buying credits assuming people are ok waiting until the charge goes through to actually get them, but for reoccurring billing like memberships they'd have to change how it works for those types of users so that it bills in advance of the membership renewal date.

@jpwong That is actually a good hint. SEPA works quite different - much more customer-friendly in legal terms, compared to credit cards.

While for VISA/mastercard I know there are insurances for the retailer/merchant, a SEPA transaction can be revoked up to 8 weeks later without the need of giving any reason. That makes abuse on international level possible and easy, since the general way to get your money in Europe - in case a transaction has been revoked - is only the legal way.
