J-Novel Club has 5 books that made it in Bookwalker's top 10 LN of the year (out of 25), 3 in the overall top 10 (out of 50):

      • 2nd (3rd overall): Ascendance of a Bookworm
      • 4th (6th overall): JK Haru
      • 6th (8th overall): Arifureta
      • 8th (12th overall): Realist Hero
      • 9th (13th overall): Demon Lord

The others that made the top 25 LNs were: Elf Bride (18th/23rd overall), Ms. Elf (19th/24th), Sexiled (24th/29th), and Bakarina (25th/30th). And those that made it in the top 50 overall after Bakarina: Lazy Dungeon Master (33rd), Potion Loli (40th), Smartphone (46th), and Grimgar (49th).

I'm very happy that Bookworm and JK Haru did so well. Bookworm and Arifureta having anime this year helped them too I'm sure.

Also, it goes to show that isekai is what sells: 18 out of the top 25 LN were isekai (9 out of the top 10).

#1 was Shield Hero, though it lost out to a BL manga overall, which I find amazing XD

      Here's the list.

      Thoughts?

@hyperion I note that Bookworm, JK Haru, Demon Lord and Arifureta have all had positive mentions by Geoff Theu over at Mother's Basment.

And you missed Combat Baker at 43

Combat Baker is a weird case because it was originally Bookwalker's to begin with, and has been on sale there for the entire year and then some. JNC only acquired the rights to sell it outside of Bookwalker.

That said, JNC's announcement of it might have given it extra visibility and thus boosted sales for BW.

              That is odd.

@hyperion Not holding my breath for a JK Haru anime. But am pleasantly surprised by Smartphone being in the top 50. Let's see what the Kickstarter and physical copies do for Rokujouma next year.

Still holding out hope that someone will license Eromanga Sensai. As is typical, the LN is light-years better than the anime.

Nice to see Bookworm surpassed Slime. That series is crazy popular in Japan and series sold 15 million copies total, while Bookworm 2 million so far. Would it surpass Slime one day?

@paul-nebeling I’m more surprised about Smartphone being so low. It’s in the top 3 bestselling series for JNC, so I would think it would at least make the top 10. Maybe a majority of Smartphone sales come from Amazon Kindle, or perhaps the JNC premium, since we have bonus stories.
