      @terabyte Yeah, this was strange. In the book, he got a rubber bullet to the head and was knocked out. The following dialoge was with the other knights, who don't really exist in the anime. Maybe for that reason he needed to stay conscious in the anime? (Still, no reason for Aiko to treat him.)

      On a secound thought: rubber breaking metal armor???!!

      And before I forget: of course there were some cringy CGI scenes to complain about. Really, an episode without CGI is not possible with this anime....

        Well...

        I don't think they could butcher this anime any more than they have. Wow! They have just skipped so much material I just don't know what it is they are trying to accomplish at this point. The only thing I do know is that I'm ready for this to be over.😭

          I have to admit, my guess on the pacing wasn't anywhere near what I had anticipated. 1 full episode for the hydra fight, and 1 full episode for the Liberator introduction. Followed by two episodes to cover the entirety of volume 2. World building apparently isn't one of the goals of this adaptation, though fight scenes are.

          The giant golem fight went about as expected. The novel went into too much static detail when it came to the fight making the fight overall underwhelming in writing. Speeding it back up to real-time in the anime meant that it was underwhelming from not being able to absorb everything happening. I'll admit, I was expecting the Hydra fight to go the route the golem fight took.

          If their goal is to add Tio to the party by the end of the next episode (Ep. 9), the dragon fight will probably end up in the middle third of the episode while the last third will be made up of them talking it out and setting up for the massacre in episode after next (Ep. 10). I'd expect dungeon delving for Kaori to resolve in two episodes based on how the series is pacing itself, so they may use an episode to resolve the missing people plot lines as a transition to dungeon delving. Unless the announced 13 episodes is also counting the recap.

          The train wrecked in episode 1, I've just been rubbernecking and eating popcorn.

            @endoftheline I have the same opinion regarding the pace of this anime. My biggest question is, if they are going to ignore Myu and her story or not.

              @leinade said in Arifureta anime:

              going to ignore Myu

              yea, so far every major character appears in the opening credits/sequence--Myu didn't make it there so I expect either OVA or next season (if this trainwreck gets renewed)

              I keep trying to remind myself not to judge this compared to the LNs- that it isn't as bad as it seems just not as good as reading the story....then when I do, the anime seems even worse. If I didn't fill in the gaps from what I knew from reading the books, the 'plot' would be all over the place, Hajime's character would come off as unsympathetic, in almost every way the anime comes off as worse. I don't know how anyone can like it without already being a fan of the books and overlooking its many, many, flaws

              I read banned books

                Apologies, apologies to all the dragons out there!

                  Wow, they had the time to change the opening/closing, but made Tio into "this".....
                  Her dragon form is a CGI mess (as expected) and her human form is annoying as hell, espacially the voice. I cannot remember, did she had a fan in the LN as well? And if I recall this correct, she doesn't have to move her mouth while speaking in dragon form, right? This CGI dragon talk was 100% cringey.

                    And just when you thought "it couldn't possible get any worse", we get this. What terrible animation. What was the point in making it look so god awful? This is just a complete disgrace and a disservice to the Arifureta Light Novels and Manga.😶

                      @lighthawk96 I really hope we did hit the bottom now. What could they do worse? Next episode will be an epic CGI monster slaughtering mess, but that could hardly be worse than today's episode.

                        @leinade Well...
                        At this point it's anybody's guess. What worries me is what they threw away before they started this series over again. I'm starting to think that the first rendition that got scrapped might have been much better than the slop they are forcing us to watch now. I had really high hopes for this one but those hopes have long sense been shattered. It really makes me wish that they never did the anime in the first place.

                          I still wonder if the author is crying inside about this (probs not allowed to complain publicly)

                              I wonder, will it get to the point where “it’s so bad it’s good”?

                                @jon-mitchell I don't know if cringe worthy CG can ever be considered "good".

                                  @smashman42 Have you read “A Sisters All You Need”? There’s a section that deals with an author who gets a terrible anime adaptation.

                                    On anime forums there are several viewers defending or recommending the anime, so it shouldn't be disastrous. Moreover its 3rd on Anidb its 3rd current popular anime so even it is low rated many are watching it.

                                    Personally I haven't watched it since I already read up to the 8th volume and I am not really fond of adaptations since they cut so much material from the original

                                      @the-green-death I think they covered that bit in the anime, can't remember any particulars though.

                                        @the-green-death I felt so bad for that guy. Like he said, no one set out to make a bad show, but that doesn't really make it hurt less.

                                          Shimizu looked like the Shredder. :D Next time, they should call the turtles......

                                          Everything else: as bad as expected, especially the CG. The filler scence disturbed me quite a bit. Shea and Yui handing out foot before the battle, really now?

                                            This episode rushed and removed the charm of the light novel. Everything from Shea being willing to sacrifice, the jokes with it, the after kiss Sensei scenes and even just as simple as Hajome knowing or suspecting that his classmate being the villain. Here, replaced with it being a discovery...

                                            Not a series for the collection, watch and forget.
