@legitpancake said in Ascendance of a BookWorm gets TV anime:

@tusf this is a relatively small animation studio that does barely 1 anime show a year, 14 episodes is probably their limit for now. If it causes a surge in merch and books sales, and possibly Dvd sales, then they may plan for another season. But all we’ve heard so far is this one season, with no current word on anything after.

What I'd read from comments for the released preview of the opening song, it references events & people beyond a possible 14-episode run (disclaimer, haven't read this work yet...).

So it turns out, Volume 20 of the LN came bundled with the first episode of the anime (tho I haven't been able to get it due to the only rip having no active seeders), and from what I'm told…

@tusf by "volume 20", which part/volume? Amazon.co.jp doesn't list them as a continuous series... and they only seem to be pushing the kindle editions...

Although I probably would be better off waiting until the whole thing comes out on Bluray in the US.

if they really are going the how we got here tactic I have to question why, these books are stupid long, why are you wasting time on that.

@lurkingmclurk Thanks - I found the right one, but I can't seem to get Amazon to show the limited edition. I'd rather avoid opening another account with another vendor.

@someoldguy The one that came out like a week or two ago, or Part 4, Vol 8(?) is what I think it is? I only heard about it from someone else on NU forums, and there is a low-quality rip out there, but dunno if ordering the Amazon one will have it, or if it's some in-story exclusive?

@tusf I found it - ¥1296 for just the book, but Amazon doesn't list the limited edition with the DVD (which would be ¥2200 according to the TO site).

                          I think I'll wait.

@eternal-wanderer I mean, it's not like it would cut the number of episodes or anything. It might confuse anime-onlys on the first episode, but i imagine everything after the first scene will continue without issue.
Might also give an excuse to let Myne narrate her story (seeing as lots of adaptations strip out character narrations)

How much of a delay does it usually take for DVD like this to be available in US?

@hiroto My experience with the "bundled" DVDs is that, unless you order the bundle from Japan, you won't get it. Even when a series gets translated (like To Love-Ru, announced just days after I got the final manga from Japan), the OVA DVDs are not released with the translation.

But, my experience has been limited so far.

@hiroto Crunchyroll so far is the only company to have rights in the west, that we’ve heard of. Even when they dub their own series (like Konosuba) they are very inconsistent with getting their series on home video. The ones that were shared with Funimation and dubbed there have had consistent home video releases, at about a year or so after the Japanese premiere (minus Masamune kun for some reason). They recently entered a deal with Viz Media for home video distribution, but nothing has come to fruition.

A few cuts from the first episode.

So the whole thing is going to be spoilers for like the next two years of books then? That kinda sucks
