It's been close to a year since volume 2's release, and so far there's been no word of a volume 3. I can only presume this has something to do with the Japanese side of things; if that's the case, or even if it's not, can anyone tell me what's happening with the release of the next volume?

Nothing's happening because the author hasn't written enough material for a third book. Looking at its Narou page, the web novel was last updated back in April.

@terabyte Having slogged thru a Google translation of the web novel (not recommended), the writer’s block is very understandable. The WN and LN differ significantly in some places and a lot of the WN material just doesn’t fit into the existing LN story.

Now that we get more Light Novels and get them closer to Japanese release, this sort of thing is bound to happen more and more often. I see a ton of LNs that don’t make it past volume one and more that don’t past volume two. Personally I’m fine with that, but feel it’ll take a little adjustment for Western fans. Just like anime’s that end unresolved with the expectation that the audience read the book or watch the anime to finish out where the story goes, has been a thorn in the Western Otaku’s side.

I wouldn't be surprised it they didn't find they wrote themselves into a corner. They have a protagonist who is both empathetic enough to lecture important superiors on their insensitive behavior and

IMO, book 2 derailed hard. Yes, she could be a ruthless pragmatist prior, but the sheer level of

The author really lost the plot and took the really nice premise and interactions of book one into broad farce, virtually removing any real emotion from relationships. It's really a shame. I honestly don't know how you come back from that and return to anything resembling real relationships and consequences.

@errantknight The issues you mentioned aside, the web novel that's out there is radically different than what was published in volume 2 and goes even further away from it. To say the author lost the plot may not be inaccurate.
