So many popular light novel series mentioned on this thread, and yet I’ve only seen JNC start translating light novels that are barely mentioned from posts I’ve read from when I first joined.

There was one Nostradamus who had a lot of his LN requests, in a short period of time, picked up. I believe Unwanted Undead Adventurer was a part of his recs.

I'm being captain obvious, but yeah, a lot of the popular stuff is Kadokawa properties that won't be a possibility until something drastic happens (which may never happen).

But I also hope I'm not alone in not wanting them to just go down the line and pick all the popular works. We'd probably be even more inundated with fantasy if they did, and you wouldn't get some of the more unique titles we've gotten (I hope we always get some oddball stuff no one could have guessed; if Sol Press doesn't do well, we may not have another pub competing in the marketplace picking up stuff that isn't Kono Light Novel Ga Sugoi acclaimed or has an anime adaptation).

        Chivalry of a Failed Knight

This series has a really good romance and fanservice is also for the characters. The action and Battles are really good and there are some emotional and physical stakes. The 1V1 battles are really awesome, and the fanservice part is really well done as said before the fanservice is also for the characters too.

In a time and place where one’s soul can be morphed into a weapon, there are modern-day magicians called Mage-Knights. Although Kurogane Ikki is a student at an institution that trains Mage-Knights, he has no particular talent in magic and is labeled the “Failure Knight” or “Worst One.” Getting way less than average marks in the scorings, he was forced to repeat a year. But with the arrival of a new head of the institution, a new rule was created: knights whose abilities are compatible, as decided by the board, must share rooms and attend practice and training together throughout their school years to bring up their abilities to the max. It is a rule to implement the absolute verdict of ability.

Ikki’s roommate, Stella Vermillion, turns out to be a princess of another foreign country. Stella is a Rank A knight: the type of genius in magic who only appears once a decade. When Ikki walked in on her while she was changing her clothes, it caused a huge misunderstanding, which eventually ended up in a duel between the two of them. The punishment for the losing side is Eternal Submission to the winning side.

Forced to live the same room and practice magic together throughout all their school years, how will Stella and Ikki’s relationship evolve?

Heyyyy. Didn't Sam mention a twintail he's working on licensing?

God, it'd be nice if it was Chivalry. :)

@dtta I think at this point Chivalry of a Failed Knight could have its own thread.

@drone205 I'm actually watching that anime right now. It's alright so far, but I especially like the romance.
If J-Novel were to license Chivalry (although I'm not sure who publishes it or if JNC has any connections to them), my only problem is that literally every cover of the volumes look exactly the same.

                @legitpancake SB Creative aka SoftBank

They don’t like digital only (at least the was the word going around back when JNC was founded)

Sorry but J-Novel Club does not publicly comment on any potential licensing decision or acquisitions.

@legitpancake well it aint a Harem and it focuses on the romance between Ikki and Stella, so it makes sense for the covers to focus on her as well. series where a different girl is in each cover are more than likely Harem series that does not have a singular focus romance.

But the thing is it's manly people throwing their titles here without much interaction...
                    -X posts title
                    =Y Upvotes it
                    -Y posts title
                    and so on
How can Sam or anyone tell if enough people here are interested in the said title?
Like JNC is the only company that deals Bungeishunjū and Kodansha LIGHTNOVEL (aside from Vertical)
So JNC is like the only publisher I can expect being able to get some of the stuff I am interested in

This is why I want to do some kind of event to not only get people to talk about potential licenses, but also encourage some interaction between forum goers and gauge how popular certain titles or genres are. This will give everyone more information and it's better than just randomly posting titles/covers ad nauseum with no discussion.

I'll try to get something going by tomorrow! Keep your eyes peeled!

Whoever said nothing's impossible never tried slamming a revolving door.

I had a similar idea to this, I was going to create a poll about peoples favourite Genres/tags but decided to create more focus poll on each genre/tag/topic, the first one was for Isekais. was going to create a new poll for a new genre/tag/topic every few day, up to a week at most.

I feel like we could do something with less popular titles too at some point in the distant future, not to step on the toes of this one. Something like "everyone gets to pitch one title, it has to rank outside of such and such ranking on such and such site, then we vote".

Dunno if there's some way to do a potluck challenge where we throw every single LN series into a document, shake it up (randomize the order of the list), pop out the 18 or so on top to do battle, then we vote.

Ooh, thanks. This is what I got from one random pull. x)

"Will the Re-Summoned Hero Live as an Ordinary Person".

Alright, that could work great. I saw someone saying they made a page for something on Novel Updates. If there's series I'm looking for that aren't there, is it possible for me to add them? Or do you need admin privileges or something?

                        NVM, I see it.

That may be the route I go, but I'm not feeling their need for a series to have a "raw" (mostly Syosetu for JP stuff I assume) and a partial translation to appear in their database (they'd probably flip out at stuff that is "Literature" in name, even if it's 100% LN in presentation, like Kadokawa's Novel Zero stuff). But there's that old adage that beggars can't be choosers, and that is a very helpful resource to do just what I was looking for, thanks. =]

I think I should create a separate sub category in the forum for suggestions, and then people can post 1 per topic. Then people can discuss them too in their own topics.

Is there a list of publishers that JNC can't work with? (For whatever reason)
