@the-green-death most series with only 2 or 3 volumes got cancelled though...

But there are some out there of that length that are interesting. Or 4 volumes.

@Sam-Pinansky That makes sense. I'm guessing cancelled series leave a number of unsettled threads in the air - though I don't think that would bother me (I'm not reading these things in order to actually witness the final Demon King confrontation - the journey is what interests me), I doubt I'm the majority here.

@the-green-death Series that get cancelled after 2-3 volumes rarely have good conclusions because the author usually tacks on a lame ending or closure.

There are some that are pretty self contained in each volume that would be fine, but you can just tell by looking at the amazon.co.jp reviews what most people think of final books in a series that weren't really meant to be "final".

Also sometimes it's not that they're cancelled but that the author just stops the series because they don't want to write it anymore. I think followers of enough web novels will be well aware of this problem...

@Sam-Pinansky Would you happen to know if Ikai Shinki to no Reunion from Softbank Creative is cancelled or still ongoing? MAL has it listed as a completed series while MU doesn't really have any tags or indicators as to whether it's truly ongoing. I've read both translated volumes a while back but it's definitely not a completed story.

@Aruseus493 no insider info there. Series are rarely cancelled publicly, they will just have next volumes never listed or have the schedule just as "mitei" 未定

I've put together a list of the most requested licenses on this site to date in case anyone is interested in this. As the list is rather long I'll just link to the blog post where I posted it rather than listing it out on here. I hope that's okay.

                  @kuuderes_shadow I love this. =)

I know at least one vote for this was me.

Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru – 2

                  This too. =)

Inou Battle wa Nichijou-kei no Naka de – 3

Kokoro Connect leading, eh. It was a pretty popular anime. I'm curious to see how natural some of the developments I've heard about from the OVAs / post series are, or if it feels like the writer was playing to fan favoritism.

@kuuderes_shadow Thanks for the list, that's pretty interesting. Now I'm going to have watch the Kokoro Connect anime to see why people are wanting the LNs.

Other posts mentioned this once in a while, so here are my requests as a fan of oldies:

                              • The Adventures of Duan Surk - MediaWorks (Complete at 23 volumes)
                              • Guin Saga - Hayakawa Shobou (Ongoing at 140 volumes)

While I'm a big fan of both of these, I'm not holding my breath since both have previously been licensed in English. Since quite a few publishers seem to focus on recent light novels that have anime adaptations, there may be an opportunity to monopolize old-school long form light novels. Although Seven Seas has already announced licensing the precursor of these with "Record of Lodoss War: The Grey Witch", I'm hoping this is an indicator of an upcoming licensing trend.

This one may be pipe dream, due to being extremely niche, would there be interest in picking up "tabletop RPG replays"? Although they're typically written as dialogue transcriptions, genre-wise they already line up with most contemporary light novels. I don't have any specific titles to request, but the following two would be marketable since their core rule books are official available in English:

                              • Double Cross The 3rd Edition - KADOKAWA (Multiple series, from 3 to 5 volumes each)
                              • Call of Cthulhu (クトゥルフ神話TRPG) - KADOKAWA (Multiple independent volumes)

Both of these happen to be published by KADOKAWA, but I'd say it's pretty unlikely for Yen Press suddenly start publishing tabletop RPG replays.

Well, when I think about shorter LN. Violet Evergarden have only 2 volumes I think, but it is a amazing reading. It have a really strong story and a good female MC. I will be happy to see it licensed from someone.

@sparhawk6 Yeah, it would be nice if someone would license Violet Evergarden, considering that it a) gets an anime adaption and b) is afaik still the only novel which won KyoAni's grand prize. Regarding the shorter: While the series has currently only 2 volumes out, isn't it still ongoing?

@Jaquobus Actually, I don´t know, I didn´t hear much about a vol 3 release, but it is still under tag ongoing, so we will see.

@sparhawk6 I do wonder if KyoAni would be interested in J-novel Club. Last time I checked there weren't many Yen Press releases of their latest Light Novel inspired animes, so who knows? They're at least not owned by Kadokawa, so that's a positive lol.

@Fezu They're located in Kyoto, have no international sales department that I know of, so I'd basically have to take the bullet train out there and camp their office. I've got a few leads though...

(Note I'm exaggerating, please don't camp out their office)
