@the-green-death I may have been a bit excessive for what I said. I do believe having a Public self and a Private Self is perfectly fine, but do not be afraid to be yourself; there are unfortunately people who think very lowly of themselves because of the things they like. using Anime and LN to help explain my point for because I can; I think one of the main themes for Nekomonogatari (White) is basically that as well. Hanekawa tries her best to be the "Perfect Model Student" but she is hiding her inner self even from her self. Hanekawa mixed colour hair and how she dyes it is a metaphor for this.

@drone205 Absolutely agree with you then. I used to be inwardly embarrassed by what I liked and it caused a lot of sorrow. Now I don’t give a fuck and simply love what I love!

It's been a while since I've dropped by, and I've come bearing a light novel.
Sengoku Komachi Kurou Tan
This light novel is about a girl who slipped in time of the Sengoku Era of Japan and must survive using her knowledge being under the rule of Nobunaga. What I know so far is that the Light Novel has 8 volumes so far and has a manga adaptation. And also, don't expect harems or gender benders like Oda Nobuna no Yabou, I kind of prefer a series with the history of the Sengoku Era with very little change.

I have good news for twin-tails fans... just put in an offer for a series with a very twin-tailed heroine!

Hmm (goes sleuthing)...
!
(Nah, wishful thinking, she's not "very" twin-tailed).
Hmm. Shall we try this one again perhaps. Volume 3 has 2 twin-tails.

http://lndb.info/light_novel/Kou_1_Desu_ga_Isekai_de_Joushu_HajimemashitaThat would be nice, I remember checking that LN out a while ago and I think it has some kind of world building/management like Realist Hero. Unless I recall wrong?
Psssst, volume 1 has twin-tails too ;)

Only 1 set of twins tails though.
Look at this! The glory!

(Waits for someone to find a work with tons of twin tails on one cover).

@terrence Oh... no...
The art is good, but it's all...
The story, characters development, strategies, etc.... nop. THIS IS REALLY BAD (but the zombie girl is cute) -
@zchronos as a Goban fan, the art is enough (LOL)
I agree that the manga is quite mediocre, but I don't find fair to judge a novel by its manga adaptation, for all we know the manga could be rushed as hell (it certainly seems like it). Unless you've already read the LN and are basing your opinion on that, in which case excuse my assumptions. That aside, I really like the illustrator so I'd be willing to give this series a chance.
-
@the-green-death totally agree. People look at you differently after they catch you with one of those books.
-
@sam-pinansky nooo!! The ponytail is the master race. I’ll probably end up reading it regardless tho to end my appease my boredom.

So...am I the only one here who ain't so self-conscious about stocking manga and LNs in his room?
Like I have my NGNL besides my copy of 1984 and John Green box set doesn't sit too far and I share pics of my new books on my FB account where my family and IRL friends (who ain't into this) can see easily...so...am I weird?
-
@rahul-balaggan
I know that but I find myself easily distracted holding an ebook compared to how I easily get immersed reading the physical copy.Well, that and I got collector mentality when it comes to books and comics (Japanese or not)
-
I have a feeling that I will say somethign that will anger half of people here but I don't think I ever saw a decent character with twintail but for Ene and Michiru (based on the VN since I haven't watched the anime)
-
@BloodyGaikotsu I mean, I don't really get a lot of people visiting my apartment, but I just have all my manga sorted alphabetically, so Monster Musume and To-Love-Ru and other ecchi titles are mixed in with all the rest.
I also don't hide that I like reading manga/light novels and watching anime either. When people make faces I just ask them why it's any different from people who watch soaps or sports or Law & Order, or who read novels like Twilight or 50 Shades of Grey.
-
I am not embarassed to stock titles in my room. I don't other than a few, but that's because I heavily prefer digital, so only get print when I have to. :)
-
I don't go out of my way to tell others, but I don't care if they find out. Thought most of my manga/novels are digital anyway.
-
I like when people take interest in my hobby. But I also feel like I have to, in turn, try to take interest in their novel novels (and I just literally don't have the time... Well, maybe if I got off social media I would; I probably should make, like, a 20 minute a night exercise of reading a Western novel, like Stephen King stuff). xC
-
@terrence you could read western books that are just really good, made for fans or geeks, by a small or new author, or are obviously inspired by anime. if you go to Amazon and search for some Kindle books you will probably find some books that are made by western authors but would not be out of place if it was a LN. here are some examples of books that are not that far off form LN (I have not read them but purely based off of covers Title and synopsis these seem similar):
Dragons can be cute too! (100 Luck and the Dragon Tamer Skill!)
I'm a WHAAAT?! (I was reincarnated as a Magic Academy! Book 1)
The Slime Dungeon (The Slime Dungeon Chronicles Book 1)
Morningwood: Everybody Loves Large Chests (Vol.1)
if you look a the recommendations or the Customers also Bought under these books you will find more like this.

How did you come up with the original idea for CODEX ALERA? We’ve heard rumours that it involved a bet on whether you could combine the Roman empire and Pokémon… is that true?
The bet was actually centered around writing craft discussions being held on the then-new Del Rey Online Writers’ Workshop, I believe. The issue at hand was central story concepts. One side of the argument claimed that a good enough central premise would make a great book, even if you were a lousy writer. The other side contended that the central concept was far less important than the execution of the story, and that the most overused central concept in the world could have life breathed into by a skilled writer.
It raged back and forth in an ALL CAPITAL LETTERS FLAMEWAR between a bunch of unpublished writers, and finally some guy dared me to put my money where my mouth was, by letting him give me a cheesy central story concept, which I would then use in an original novel.
Me being an arrogant kid, I wrote him back saying, “Why don’t you give me TWO terrible ideas for a story, and I’ll use them BOTH.”
The core ideas he gave me were Lost Roman Legion and Pokémon… Thus was Alera formed.
