Just a small development in a series I want.
Remake Our Life (Time travel from the age of 28 back to when they were 18 to relive more fun times).

This one is MF Bunko / Kadokawa, so probably zero chance we get it, and even slim odds from Yen (we don't even have Classroom of the Elite, and that has an anime).
Anyways, its upcoming release is volume 4. What's notable is that, assuming this is a triangle light novel, they may have decided the "winner" since
-
@paulnamida Got to agree with that. Then again JNC did license "How Not To Summon A Demon Lord", which is borderline(ish) hentai...
-
@xftg123 yeah, but Demon Lord is just borderline, I don't think we get anything more graphic than the fingering scene. Kaifuku's LN version is supposedly even raunchier than the WN version. The author promoted it as containing "material that couldn't be posted in Narou" after all. And Narou allowed cannibalism snuff on vol. 3... I'm almost afraid to know what were the added scenes.

How about Bodacious space pirates? The Hyperspace Abyss special is translated in English, but i cant find the original 12 volumes anywhere in English?

Watched the Anime, seems fun. -
How about these? I first got into the manga for all three of them and I enjoy them quite a bit.
Gaikotsu Kishi-sama, Tadaima Isekai e Odekake-chuu
The New Gate
Tondemo Skill de Isekai Hourou Meshi
-
@kino Those are already being translated. Search for the titles at novelupdates.com
-
@deemerald none of those are legally licensed, for people who only read official translation they have no way to read them in English.
-
@rahul-balaggan The New gate is done by an official translater, but illegally. So that gains a pass maybe?
-
@deemerald some may say it does, I for one say it doesn’t. Nothing against that translator but I still won’t read unless I can legally pay for it in a way that the author sees residuals.
-
@rahul-balaggan So you mean like Slime Tensei, where they legally got premission from the author to translate the webnovel?
-
@deemerald that Yen licensed the LN version and released it that has become a mute point.
-
@rahul-balaggan Mkay then. Ill give. If the person in question wants to read only official translated novels i cant really help them. I almost read everything 'illigally' wink wink
-
@deemerald Considering said translator is charging for early access to chapters, I hope he gets shut down for that scum-behavior. Would much prefer it to be licensed.
-
@aruseus493 hmm. Never knew that. Normally i follow 20 different things at the same time and just switch between them constantly, not really minding whether something comes out early or late
-
I think it'd be good practice to at least have the Syosetu tab open for the individual chapter you're reading translated.
For anything that has an official release in Japan, I'd grab the Light Novels off of Bookwalker. There are ways to support the author while still reading unofficial translations.
Speaking of Syosetu, I've been realizing that a lot of stuff that gets published but cancelled doesn't necessarily disappear off of Syosetu and in fact sometimes continues for a long time after. I wonder if any English publisher could do a halfway translation (translate the available LN, then switch to the WN; I'd say forget the LN, but these relationships with official pubs are really important not to burn, and you'd lose all that art too)?

@deemerald said in Novel pick-up requests:

I'm not familiar with the circumstances in this case; out of curiosity, what makes the person doing it an "official" translator?
-
@hatguy12 I'm not really that sure if he is official. I dont know the specifics so that post could be Horribly wrong, but there was at least one time they hired an official one i believe

Are Overlap easy to work with? I think I requested The New Gate a long time ago, but apparently that one is from a publisher J-novel can't work with or something... I see that the other two of the things I requested are from Overlap.
Edit: The manga for both of the overlap titles are very popular, I won't be surprised if Yen Press try to poach the two...
-
@kino the first 2 publishers JNC worked with are Hobby Japan and OverLap.
So requests from there are just marginally more likely.
Small percentage like .00000000000000001% more likely

@kino
IIRC, Sam once said that The New Gates's publisher AlphaPolis does not yet have an International Licensing department that could handle licensing for other languages making it impossible to license any series they have even if its not JNC who wants to license them.Edit: I found post the where Sam mentioned this.
