Same here. I'd also love if their works were also published, as in a series from the "Oreshura" author and a series from the "Oreshura" illustrator.

From the "Oreshura" author, "29 to JK"

From the "Oreshura" illustrator, "Unbreakable Machine Doll"

@xftg123 Damn. I didn't notice they were done by the same illustrators. What a failure.

(I really liked the Oreshura anime, but I dunno if I'd be interested in reading the novels right now.)

(For some reason, I've never been a fan of the comedic side of FMP. I can't figure out why.)

Was just randomly thinking about how Seven Seas has the license to the borderline-hentai manga adaptation Series: How to Build a Dungeon: Book of the Demon King. So to counter, J-Novel Club should go after Zettai ni Hatarakitakunai Dungeon Master ga Damin wo Musaboru Made.

Publisher: Overlap (What a coincidence that J-NC just so happens to have a partnership with them.)

All I really know about it is that it has a protagonist that's a lazy dungeon master and all the volume covers like most LN series has cute girls on them. Currently 6 going on 7 volumes out for the series at the moment in Japan.

@aruseus493 trying to counter with a dungeon master series? Then how about Hisshou Dungeon Un'ei Houhou and Jashin Average (Average of Evil Gods).

@shrike_al "29 to JK" was done by the Oreshura AUTHOR, not the illustrator :-).

The illustrator of "Oreshura", Ruroo, did the art for "Unbreakable Machine Doll" respectively :-)

@aruseus493 Just saw the volume illustrations, it's definitely up there in terms of Borderline H. And seeing how JNC licensed "How NOT To Summon A Demon Lord", they do have the guts to license something like this....

I do wish though that, other than "How Not To Summon A Demon Lord", the author's other work, "Altina The Sword Princess", was licensed as well

                  unfortunately, its from Enterbrain....

@xftg123 Um, yes, it was the illustrations between Oreshura and Machine Doll that I was talking about. It really went above my head since their respective anime adaptations used very different visual tones.

Anyone know how the story presents its premise (I understand it's like an arranged marriage type scenario, getting married off to the boss' son?)? Seems controversial.

With all this clutter, how does J-Club know which novels are in the most demand? Is there a page that lists a bunch of novels that people can just click on the ones they want and the computer will keep count of different peoples clicks?

                          @followernumber1

First things first this topic is an unofficial request thread, and the founder of JNC has openly stated that he checks this thread “occasionally”.

Also the most requested books in this thread are from Kadokawa which JNC (at the moment) has absolutely no ties to, and with Kadokawa owning a majority share of Yen Press it will probably be some time till we see a JNC X Kadokawa project.

The new licenses are most likely stemming from the survey JNC did during there 1 year anniversary month, also at this point they have acquired a sizable amount of data on what titles sell and what don’t.

They have already done, battle harems, school harems, stand-alone, adventure, mystery, economics, isekai, etc. so they take the sales data they already have, see what’s popular in the current market place, maybe look around see if anything is getting a little more attention in Japan and then come to a decision on what to license. It has also been openly stated that whatever is highest ranked on MAL or other such sites plays very little in the license decision process, and on a recent curious cat question it was said that, “highly requested doesn’t necessarily translate into highly successful”.

Last food for thought the most requested Novel in the survey was Mushoku Tensei.

Sorry but J-Novel Club does not publicly comment on any potential licensing decision or acquisitions.

@rahul-balaggan Definity can agree with "Mushoku Tensei" being highly requested. The series is also quite requested a lot in the Seven Seas survey.

Another one that's got requested a lot too is "Classroom Of The Elite" as well, seeing how that also got flooded in the survey.

I look at this thread more as a repository of licenses people are excited about and want others to get excited about and request here / elsewhere.

Don't forget to request books you really want on Seven Seas' monthly survey and Bookwalker's request page too.

I kind of feel like doing a license request dump on Bookwalker's site, but I might get banned considering the size my wishlist has grown to in the last few years since I last did a request dump.

@aruseus493 You weren't kidding about that wishlist, I scrolled through and that's definitely a lot XD

Also, how does Bookwalker choose what LNs they want to license anyway? I don't get why they licensed "Combat Butler And Automaton Waitress". Was it to highly requested or to start off their LN publishing?

But, "Ryuuoh No Oshigoto" made sense considering how it's quite popular in Japan and it won Kono Light Novel Ga Sugoi! twice AND there's also an anime.

@xftg123 I don't think they've ever said how they pick their licenses, but I know back when they still used a Google Doc, they said they'd forward requests directly to the various publishers. It was more of a "people want series x from you in English" from what it sounded like.

Otherwise, it's Combat Baker. It's surprisingly good. If only Bookwalker didn't come with DRM.

I'm also kind of hoping though that Bookwalker fixes their grammar errors and such as well.

                                            Series or volumes?

There's a few series with two or three books on the list, but mostly single volumes / volume 1s. Some manga, but not much.

Edit: 48 of the 636 books are manga.

Edit 2: 45 Volume 2s or repeated volumes.

So 543 unique novels / light novels.
