      This morning, I read 1st parts of Hayakawa titles (Again, would love to have them on my shelf lol)

      Then, I just searched Hayakawa on the Japanese Amazon, picked various titles and tried to choose only one.

      and this is the one I choose.

      Tbh, I ain't sure about the translation cuz it's google translation lol
      (anyone who can verify the translation may speak lol)

      alt text

      Author: Chōhei Kambayashi (Viz's Haikasoru is publishing his Yukikaze series)

      So, as everyone knows now, Hayakawa doesn't publish LNs but Sci-fi novel.

      The synopsis of this book was so confusing for google translation.
      The MC is one of these unnamed MCs and is refered to by "boku", which confused google translation to a whole new level lol.

      So, our "boku" of MC, heard that his father went missing.
      Coming back to the family house only to find a man claiming to be himself.
      Yeah, you guessed it!
      it's doppelgänger story.
      A Sci-Fi/mystery story.
      Well, mystery + doppelgänger + the cover and the name that indicate the story might be dark = I really wanna read it

        this looks like a one-shot type of book, I am always interested in one-shots. You got my up-vote.

          Boku want this one. Boku thinks it has a good cover and likes the genre.

            Based on the giver and Boston the cover alone I am getting major Oyasumi Punpun vibes from this.

            In my case I never bought Oyasumi Punpun for the sole reason that the cover scared me.

            Sorry but J-Novel Club does not publicly comment on any potential licensing decision or acquisitions.

              “You were scared they were going to laugh at you, right? So let them! People who discourage others will never find their own happiness!” - Goodnight PunPun, Volume 1

              You need to read some PunPun. Though, some of the existentialism may scare you (as well as the creepy floating author head you see on the back cover that gets summoned by basically saying "Candy Man" or in this case "Dear God, Dear God, Tinkle Tinkle Hoy"). T_T

              The PunPun type look made me upvote this post actually.

                @Rahul-Balaggan
                You really gotta read Punpun, even at least for the experience.
                It might be hard read (in the same sense as Hakomari, characters ain't really having fun here so it's hard to swallow).
                I read the fan-translation when I was in highschool and it took me by surprise and it wasn't even my first Asano Inio experience but Punpun was that special even among his titles. I kinda had to take a break after every 2 volumes (one volume of Viz's release)

                Well, I love dark and psychological stuff too (and a lot of my suggestions here fall in this category)

                @Terrence
                It's not an author
                Just random afro guy lol
                Actually, I picked this one for the cover (one look and I was captivated)
                Like I said, I also had other Hayakawa names that I wanted to suggested but I had to choose one name of them and nothing is better than depressing-looking book~! (well, at least, by my standards lol: Depressing-looking > Cute girl on the cover)

                  @BloodyGaikotsu & @Terrence I did a quick skim of the book synopsis and decided I really can’t read it, I really like dark content but not content that makes me sad.

                  Like A Silent Voice, the first chapter made me so very very sad that I never read anything further. I assumed that this series would end on a happy note but I also reckoned that there would have to be many many many more downs before it turned around. So Oyasumi Punpun and A Silebt Voice will never grace my shelves unfortunately

                    Yeah, I respect that. Asano's works are some of the most depressing, contemplative stuff I've read. It can keep you up at night definitely. Need to be in a mood for it for myself even.

                        Your assumption was spot-on.
