@fozzedout Crunchyroll isn't even trying with manga. They don't seem to get new publishers, and the reader and app suck. Can't imagine JNC's manga endeavor being that mismanaged.

I couldn't believe they removed ReLife (and a few other series I was somewhat interested in). If I want to read legitimate copies of some of their licenses they dropped, there's no way to do so, right? =[

@terrence Yeah ReLife is one of my favorites and I wish I could buy the volumes... They lost everything from that publisher I believe.

The only benefit of the method that JNC use is that if you pick up anything at the start, you don't have to go anywhere else to then read the rest of the published works. This is where crunchy roll fall currently. No chance of catch up, no purchasing to unlock the published chapters. Whereas JNC already have the systems in place, simply because they are not just translators - they are also publishers.
In this regard, I am hopeful - this can work.My nervousness is more from history, where other companies tried to do this venture and failed.
Still Sam started with a lot of concern over the longevity of JNC, and here we still are: In Sam We Trust!

So happy to see that Kokoro Connect and Amagi Brilliant Park are licensed! Especially Kokoro Connect, as I've been wanting it since I watched the anime. Also super excited about J-Novel Club publishing physical books. I read digital books here and there, but I mostly like to read physical. I'll definitely pick up Smartphone when it releases. It's been one I've been meaning to check out anyway. ^_^

have there been any announcements from other publishers about novel pick ups, i don't really know where to look to find out.

Nothing I've noticed novel wise (as long as you kept up with Cross Inf World's stuff a little while ago).
Elfen Lied manga is coming from Dark Horse.
If you're into "visual" novels, there's been some announcements there too (Spike Chunsoft stuff).

If you mean something else... I don't think anything else interesting has happened in the past day :x the "So you want to be a translator?" thing starts in ~5 minutes, Kodansha/Vertical panel is tomorrow, YP/7S panels are on Sunday.
