lol I got like 60 digital books. I can't read physical cuz I'll fall asleep so I don't want to double buy books that I actually want to read. One day when the world loses power I will regret this lol. I hope Y'all would let a fellow JNC "friend" read your books if it ever happens.

Thanks, and yeah, I'm a huge supporter of JNC's efforts to localize LNs so I'm showing it by buying all their releases as they're made available (it's the reason I'm not a premium member on this site as I'd rather own their complete volumes), even though TBQH I haven't actually had the time to sit down and read through every single one of them.
Same with Yen Press, I believe the very first LNs that I purchased from them were the Book Girl series, and since then I've been picking up all their LNs on Kindle as and when they're released. Eagerly counting the days till the 26th of this month, when the next deluge of titles from them will be made available including The Isolator vol.4, Accel World vol.14 and Re: Zero vol.7.

              ?

What do you mean by own the complete volumes but not be a member, the only way to own a complete volume is to be a member/premium member get premium credits and buy the premium edition for the bonus content that is only exclusively available for the premium editions.

                Um, no.

You can purchase complete volumes of JNC's releases from Amazon's Kindle store or even Bookwalker, which is kinda what I stated in one of my earlier posts.

And they've recently also started collaborating with Seven Seas to publish physical copies of select titles like Grimgar and Arifureta, which as I also said is the reason why I've ended up buying certain titles twice.

If you however consider a complete volume to be one which contains not just all the chapters pertaining to that volume but also all associated bonus content, then yeah, that's different, although I'm personally not the sort to bother with the bonus content, as I view a complete volume to consist of just the chapters alone.

@l-sama yes I 100% aware of everything you said but what I am asking is why you believe that correlates to not having a membership, do you not want premium editions with their lack of DRM, and their high resolution images, and the premium material such as bonus short stories.

                  I saw your edit

I think I understand where the confusion might've arisen from regarding my original statement.

From the way I understand JNC's membership works, a regular membership only allows you to read all currently translated chapters of their various licenses, and you don't actually end up owning anything, meaning once your membership expires then you also no longer have access to new chapters or even the existing ones.

A premium membership on the other hand also gives you a monthly token/credit which allows you to permanently purchase one premium digital volumes of your choice which is of higher quality (and might have bonus content) compared to the same digital release on Kindle/Bookwalker.

However, the thing is that I'd rather just own the volumes outright rather than rent them, and since I'm only given one token each month even with a premium membership, with simple math there's no way that I'd be able to purchase all their titles since they release at least half a dozen or so collected volumes every month.

Feel free to correct me though if I'm mistaken on the way their membership works. I'd also be more than happy to reconsider getting a premium membership if it allows me to also outright purchase additional premium tokens/credits so that I can purchase more than just one title a month, unless such a feature has already been implemented and I'm just not aware of it.

Hope that clears things up for you.

@l-sama yes that is where my initial confusion stemmed from.

When you are a member you don’t get premium credits, however you can purchase them at a rate of $7 each

If you are a premium member you get 1 credit a month and you can purchase additional credits for $6 each

So One did the math in the past if you have a premium membership and buy 5 books a month it works out that the premium membership price pays for itself cause you get a $1 discount for all books.

Also please refer to this topic about what books come with what premium content if you haven’t already seen it.

Argh, I honestly was not aware of this, nor the fact that you could buy additional credits.

Thanks, guess I might have to look into getting a membership after all.

                        And thanks so much for that link, that's very helpful for me to consider what to get. Sigh, looks like I might end up purchasing some of these volumes a third time..... ;_;

Edit: Yeah, a quick glance through that topic indicates that I might have to get Me, A Genius? vols.1 & 2 again if I get a membership, since I really enjoy that particular series. cries

@l-sama I feel your pain, I had already bought a bunch of books from kindle when I learned that I could get these awesome DRM-free epubs with bonus content. fortunately it was still early on. I can only wonder how it might be to have a hundred books with juicy side-stories waiting for me >.>

@l-sama Yea, when you buy a volume from JNC as a member, you are able to download the epub ebook and keep it forever. Also, series such as Arifureta, Dendrogram, and Realist Hero have important bonus short stories that Kindle/BW won’t have. The Arifureta physical books have the premium short stories though, so if you already own that you’re fine.

I have 114 digital light novels in Kindle (a mix of JNC and Yen Press) and 11 paper back light novels (The Devil is a part-timer). I started reading LNs since July, 2018 so my collection is not that great

@cosm1cfall I know, I go crazy when it comes to books. The thing with me is that when I start a series I have to buy all the volumes that has come out for it till date. I have completed around 50% of the total books I have as of now.
