I'd like to know what the creator actually said that was offensive. All I see are remarks about how he has said some sketchy things related to China and Korea. If the main reason they are cancelling it for is because the main character killed a bunch of Chinese people during a war, then I'm pretty annoyed.
sigh If he is a racist, then I wish they would've, I don't know, maybe looked into the author before they decided to publish him. Instead, I'm partially through a series I like and it dies due to a lack of due diligence.
Edit: Okay, read his comments, they're pretty gross, but not enough that I think the series should be cancelled. An apology should be enough I think, especially as a large percentage of people reading the story don't instantly jump to "he must have massacred and raped women and children" when hearing "he killed a bunch of people during the war." The only reason I have any idea that there is anything racist going on here is due to internet people going out and researching his old tweets.

It probably didn't help when the death counts provided (in even the LN) happen to also be the date of the Nanking massacre. I think the other numbers had related coded meanings too.
I think the author was really stupid, both about what he tweeted back then, and particularly about what he put into the WN/LN, but I'd still like to see the series concluded. Maybe have him donate some of the proceeds to charity or something. I think that has more tangible value than a simple apology.

@guspaz Can you explain the numbers thing to me? I mean, I get that him being 15 at the time means he was in China when the massacre happened, and sure, the author is a crazy nationalist weirdo, but up until I knew that about the author and saw his and others' comments I had no idea that the numbers could be meant as some sort of nod toward Nanking. I don't know, maybe coming from an eastern Asian viewpoint all of that sounds much more fanatical and racist I guess.

@pjthomas404 He supposedly killed exactly 3712 people. Nanking Massacre was on December (12) of 1937. It's a bit too on-the-nose to play off as having chosen a random number when taken in context with his tweets.

@myskaros Ah, okay, I wasn't getting the kill number being a reference to the date. That makes a bit more sense I guess. The dude definitely needed to apologize, but I hope the series can continue after some editing now that he has.
