@Zing Yeah consider the revenge plot as a bit of a slow burn. There is a ton of world building still to go from the point you are in the story. I'm mostly caught up with the web novel translation so i'm having to wait currently for a couple chapters to be finished before I continue.

Man, am 130 chapters inn, I cant stop, my sleep hours are hurting so much.
      This shit is epic.
The world, the characters, the lore, the plot, the subplot, the conspiracy, the conflict, everything is rather well written. I am honestly baffled at how good it is and really happy I picked this web novel up.

@Zing haha, well I would suggest finding a stopping point, perhaps on the nearest arc end so you don't reach a dead end with no new chapters like I did. Right now I think they are translating the beginning of a new arc.

The "Revenge plot" usual story has two types of follow ups, the one where MC is constantly edgy and continues in the shadows, like "Redo of the Healing Hero", and the type that things get better "soon", like Shield Hero. This one is certainly much sooner than Shield Hero though, so the ones wanting some edginess may find themselves bored.

Van is however an insane protagonist, he can kill with no problem as a baby, he usually chose not to do it, otherwise he is afraid he could turn into some sort of mass murderer with no control over himself, and he does makes progress for both himself and his allies.

Overall, it's a very sweet story about a child looking for happiness, in a world where both the reincarnators may arrive and decide to kill him, or the god of the world also seems intent on killing him simply because of his race (Nothing personal).

The story does have a plus in how the enemy side can be so funny. Rodcorte can be extremely stupid yet logical under his own circunstances, when you think he can't do something dumber, he does. And while the reincarnators don't die, the new world has its own set of problems thanks to God of Light, Life and Fate Alda, who is the most powerful god who survived the war 100K years ago against the Demon King who invaded their world.

So while it may feel like "MC against the world", soon it changes to "MC and his side of the world vs the current majority", and all for the sake of peace. Ironically, Vandalieu is the only one doing what Rodcorte wanted them to do.

Well, thanks to @Zing , I removed my upvote and if jnc gets this title, I won't be buying it. If this title is turning people into fanatics, count me out. I have no interest in becoming a fanatic.

Winning isn't really that fun if you want a challenge... Making others win, on the other hand...

Seriously, people gotta stop being such zealots about this series. It's a good series, and I love it (and I would love for it to be licensed), but people pushing it so hard at every opportunity (and in topics totally unrelated to it) are actually turning people away from the series. @Zing If you like death mage, please realize that your behaviour is making people avoid the series.

@Fated the story is one of those slow build ones. So nothing incredible really happens very early on. The best part of the story it its different perspectives it gives in the side chapters, I've enjoyed those the most as it gives good perspective on how the story is going along from another character's point of view other than Van or someone on his side.

I was wandering around the licensing suggestions area last night and came across this and it sounded interesting, so I checked out the translated web novel and now I'm on chapter 33, having neglected the pile of homework I was supposed to have been doing, and really into it. I'd love to see JNC pick this up and read the finished light novels and support the series by buying them.

I was surprised by sudden license of THE EMINENCE IN SHADOW, perhaps there is hope for this one :)

Why would that be a sign for this one? Type of story, publisher, or something else?

Yeah, the two series aren't remotely related in any way, so kind of a weird comparison.

I'm pretty sure the only reason Death Mage isn't picked up (besides some of the subject matter) is just that its publisher (Hifumi Shobo) isn't that well established, and has only had a single one of its series picked up by an English publisher, (SCP Foundation picked up by Seven Seas just weeks ago)

Mostly wishful thinking, recently a lot of works that I like were getting licenses, by not j-novel. Which bring me to the work that I like the most :)

The premise of this story sounds interesting. I’d definitely buy it if it gets licensed.

The current web novel is being translated at a snails pace, but it finally reached a conclusion on one of the main characters primary ambitions.(as in for what we have translated unofficially so far) I'd personally love for this series to be translated officially. The web novel itself is in the range of 300+ chapters at this time while the actual light novel itself only has 5 volumes out currently, barely covering the 2nd arc/3rd arc of the series. Its a good time to pick up this series solely because its a period where the light novel is actually lagging far behind. Personally I love the art for the cover/illustrations. All the characters looks really cool and the newest volume has an awesome cover:

So I looked up the Japanese publisher and it seems it's Hifumi Shobo. According to the English Licenses sorted by JP Publisher thread there's been only one English license from them, SCP Foundation: Iris Through the Looking-Glass from Seven Seas Entertainment.

Anyone know anything about this publisher and how hard it likely is to license stuff from them?

@yumenokage Like I said a few posts up, SCP Fondation seems to be the first license from them, and it was only about a month or two ago. I think they're just new, as far as LNs go, so there aren't any licensors that have any established connection with them (besides SSE, that is…)
