They never were the only ones that put out Kadokawa titles.
Kadokawa is too big for one publisher anyways.
It's just an assumption that YP will have monopoly on Kadokawa after Kadokawa bought almost half of it.

Majority of Seven Seas LN titles (aside from JNC prints) are Kadokawa's including 2 titles that were licensed after Kadokawa bought YP.

Now that Kadokawa's title are possible, JNC should quickly pick mushoku tensei (if they consider doing so) because right now the manga is only up to V2 or 3 so they could rapidly attract people who don't want to wait.
