Updated first post with August's catchups list. All complete titles this time around, well... almost. 2 series are complete and the other 2 are on their last volume.

Thanks for doing this every month.

I liked the Demon King Daimaou anime, so I'll finally give this one a try.

Didn't quite get to finish everything I wanted to last month because I started a job, but nothing I desperately wanted to finish. This month I'll probably try Last and First Idol and Beast Head and then try and catch up on my pile of non-JNC physical novels and manga that have piled up. I'm not really interested in the other two catchup series, although if I had more time and a smaller backpile I might've checked them out.

License Wishlist: Kino's Journey, Crest/Banner anthology, SukaMoka
Favorite JNC Series (tried): Bookworm, Faraway Paladin, Infinite Dendrogram, Grimgar, Crest/Banner of the Stars, Der Werwolf, The Skull Dragon's Precious Daughter, Apothecary Diaries

That's a lot of reading for this month's catch-up. I'm not interested in Beast Head, but the others I'll give a try, though I doubt I'll manage to read both Demon King and Apocalypse.

Faraway Paladin and Mixed Bathing were both great.

Paladin reached a decent stopping point though I do wish it had continued on. It's also one of my favorite fantasy examples of a Paladin acting in the service of their god in ways other than "me strong fighter with <alignment of god>!" the other :ahem: shining example being Elizabeth Moon's Deed of Paksenarrion trilogy.

I was too lazy to give Crest of the Stars a read when volume 1 came out but I liked the anime so I'll use this second chance.

Updated the first post with October 2019 catchups.

Not a fan of horror so I'll skip Ao Oni as usual, and I'm all caught up with the other 3 series.

I'll be reading a bit of Ao Oni this month, but I'll probably keep buying them for a tiny bit of support towards Horror (and to own them to read in the future).

Bookworm, Ragnarok, and For My Daughter I have to catch up with... But I got a lot of newer stuff to read too. So I'll have some decisions there.

I've been meaning to give Ao Oni a try when it came up again to branch out in genres.

I'll also see about reading more of For My Daughter which I started last time it was on catchup. Don't know if I'll want to continue past the infamous change in relationship, though.

Already up to date on Bookworm but I'm picking it for my book club this month so this lines up really well with that for people who prefer to read digitally or want to read past volume 1.

I can't say I have any enthusiasm for trying Ragnarok as it looks like just another harem, but if anyone wants to give a defense/promotion of it I might reconsider.

I think you should give it a try. While there are indeed several heroines there hasn't really been much of a harem time/development so far after 10 volumes. I could probably say a few things more, but then it would end up being a spoiler. (And, in case you checked out the anime, forget it ever existed...)

That's my problem: I haven't found a way to erase the anime's awfulness from my mind so that I can give the LNs a fair chance.

@harmlessdave If you've seen Arifureta's anime they're basically the same thing in terms of "worst/wrong adaptation".

(I still rate Arifureta below Ragnarok because of the god awful CGI though.)

I'm glad to see Bookworm since I wasn't able to get to the first volume before it expired, so now I can finally give it a try.

Updated first post with November 2019 catchup. Only 3 series this time around, but still 28 volumes overall (with 1 more volume for Magic Behind starting soon).

Nothing I'm interested in this time, which I'm actually kind of glad about since I'm going to be really busy through the first bit of December. I am a little curious about JK Haru, since it's supposed to treat things a little more seriously, but since it's still supposed to be pretty obscene I don't think I'd be comfortable reading it in the end.

For last month's series, I didn't get to much because of other stuff going on, but I did read the first volume of Ao Oni, which I thought was okay, and then got a little farther on For My Daughter, which I'll probably pick up again whenever it next comes on catchup.

I own all of smartphone and the first ...6? of Magic, and JK Haru isn't my cup of tea.

Oh well, better luck next month.

I think I'm gonna try Smartphone, the anime was terrible (the abridged version is gold tho) but I kinda want to see what the LN is like.

I need to read Magic in this Other World Too Far Behind (pretty sure I read 1-4).

Podcast I'm in is covering JK Haru shortly, so that works out pretty good if I want to read through some of Summer again (I did buy the first one though for rereading last month).
