Now that it's August, here are the new catchups for J-Novel Club members!

Rekka is a hero. He saves girls in trouble. He saves them, and saves them, and saves them... And now, they're causing the apocalypse... I Saved Too Many Girls and Caused the Apocalypse is our longest completed series so far, and you can read it all this month!

In The Holy Knight's Dark Road, the holy knight Sain really wants to be a dark knight instead, but... he can't use dark magic! Ever wonder whether those creepy internet ghost stories are true? Two girls stumble into an "Otherworld" where they are! Follow their adventures in Otherside Picnic! Check out two of our ongoing series!

Yuri is The Underdog of the Eight Greater Tribes, as a human known to be the weakest tribe, but he's out to show them all that he can beat 'em all! And by the author of No Game No Life, Clockwork Planet is the steampunk adventure of humans and automatons on a planet transformed into clockwork!

A collection of 3 sci-fi short stories, two of which have won awards, prepare for your mind to be blown in Last and First Idol! And one of our first shoujo series, the title speaks for itself: Apparently It's My Fault That My Husband Has the Head of a Beast!

      Time to get reading! :)

Maybe I'll give Apocalypse another try. It's been a while.

Hmm... tough choice this month. Should I try I Saved Too Many Girls because that looks like something I would normally never like, so might as well try it while it's free or try Otherside Picnic! and Clockwork Planet because they look like something I would like.

Nothing for me to try this month, except maybe beast head.

              (Copied from the LN subforum:)

I enjoyed the first 10 or so volumes of Little Apocalypse, after which it felt like more of the same (in a bad way) for me. I'd suggest anyone trying it to read until you're tired of the premise then read the last 2 (or was it 3?) volumes for the series conclusion.

Holy Knight's Dark Road was more fun than I expected it to be. To enjoy it you might need to realize that the edgelord routine is 90% method acting for his goal, and underneath he's just a nice kid with a warm heart.

I really got behind on Otherside. I've gotten interested in this series after playing the first S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game earlier this year.

Nothing for me this month. I've already read all of those titles. Thanks for all the hard work, JNC!

A reminder that August catchups will be ending next Tuesday midday (US time)! Better read what you want before they go! ;)

Was very pleasantly surprised with Dark Holy Knight, really enjoyed it and will likely continue if more is published. Anyone care to convince me to read Underdog?

@LegitPancake I rather enjoyed Underdog, it's protagonist is gleefully battle-crazy (as well as adorable) and the final battle in the first volume is intense. I would give the first volume a try while catch-up is going on. It's a fun series that has some darker elements in places, if you ended up liking The Holy Knights Dark Road I would give this one a try. I felt they have a somewhat similar feel.

After the first three parts I’m not feeling Otherside Picnic, but I thought I’d love it. Did any of you not like it, stick with it and end up loving it? Or if I don’t like it yet will I probably continue not to like it?

@the-green-death Hmm. It comes in goes for me... there are times where it seems to wear thin, especially with "are they or are they not developing a relationship" and " is the only reason Toriko is doing this because of her missing senpai" aspects. But I love all the crazy, bizarre stuff that happens and I will say that they do in fact make good progress in resolving the issues I raised.

But... It takes time. Like, we kind of get an answer to that in the last part of vol 3 kind of time.

Also, if you are only 3 parts in you haven't seen anything close to how weird some of their encounters get.

I like the first 3 volumes so far. At first it's a little unsettling, because there's too much that you don't know and it makes it hard to like the characters, but that gets solved fairly quickly. The story starts to flow better once you trust the characters a bit more, which I think is very real-life.

The only thing I would fault the series for is that there seem to be two volumes of side stories before volume 4. Personally, I hate that, and I'm hoping that J-Novel picks up Volume 4 first, but that's just me.
