So, earlier today I finished Volume 5 of "How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord" (light novel). When I went into the Kindle Store to get Volume 6 the app couldn't find me Volumes 6 or 7 of the light novel series. When I went onto the Amazon website to look for them I found the series listed, without Volumes 6 or 10 (the page for Volume 7 loads just fine, the app was just being a pain because of how long the series is, and having the manga adaptation as well just makes it worse). However, I was able to find the paperback edition of Volume 6. The problem here is that I am an over-the-road trucker, and I prefer to stick with ebooks as much as possible to help keep down clutter in my semi, not to mention the challenge of getting back home to pick up a package with a physical copy of a series I'm reading. I primarily stick with Amazon (and thus Kindle) as it makes it easier to keep track of what I have read so far, not to mention there are several other series I've found and rather enjoyed that are Kindle Exclusives.

I am trying to find out just what has happened that Amazon no longer has Kindle editions of Volumes 6 and 10 for this series, and if there is any chance of them becoming available again or if I'm just screwed here.

I remember hearing that Amazon in some countries removed one or more volumes (due to too much ecchi / sexualized children). That may have happened (I thought it happened for Germany volume 7).

It's also true that Amazon often lumps things together improperly such that it makes it difficult to find (it could be a sub-item under the manga page).

          Hmmmmm.......

After rechecking against the page for the manga, it isn't listed there either.

The thing is, I live in the USA, have a Prime subscription, and am very certain I'm looking at the US pages, not ones for another country. Furthermore, as I said in my original post, Amazon is listing the paperback editions of both Volumes 6 and 10, only the Kindle editions are missing. The rest of the 12 volumes are all available via Kindle, which is why I'm asking J-Novel Club about what has happened to them.

I can see where a couple of grasswalkers pictured with their usual costumes would be problematic for Amazon, even in the US, even though one of them is rather old and runs the guild.

Interestingly, there are links to the series, that say "book 4 of 12 book series", but the lead to a page that says "10 book series", if you're filtering by Kindle.

But when you filter for print editions they list all 12, even with the 'problematic' covers. And yeah, I can see the cover for Volume 6 being in the 'problematic' category, especially since if that is the Grasswalker I think it is her actual age is only 12. I'm not entirely sure who is on the cover of Volume 10, as the ears are the wrong color for the one Guildmaster, but it is the same style of outfit, and with their build it hits some very questionable notes regardless of age.

Yeah, it doesn't help that they have the manga as well, and with a shared author it makes it challenging to differentiate between them without reading the descriptions, and having read at least the first three volumes of the light novels (it seems to be about two mangas to each volume of the light novels).

@Razmoudah 10's cover is Sylvia, the guild master. And there are some additional illustrations inside of her and Diablo.

I usually don't notice these Amazon issues because I go straight for the Premium Ebook where possible. No distribution problems there.

I let my Premium lapse a while ago as I was having problems covering it at the time. I need to Re-Subscribe to it.

I thought Sylvia was described as having Light Brown ears and tail, not Dark Brown, but I guess I could be mistaken. I've also sent in an e-mail about the problem. Apparently they noticed it just a couple of hours before I'd been trying to buy the next volume and ran into it myself.

I'm not interested in this series, but looking through the kindle section on the german amazon out of curiosity, I haven't seen any volumes missing. Maybe this problem already got solved though.

Unfortunately, we don't have an update on this issue yet. They're still missing from US Amazon, and we've been in contact with their support trying to figure it out. Suffice to say that things are progressing very slow due to the pandemic.

I'm in the UK and amazon here have volume 2 and 5 unavailable for paperback but available for kindle. However the reverse is true for volume 6. I spoke with amazon and they just said it was down to the publisher.

@myskaros completely understandable that the pandemic is causing issues. Please let us know as soon as you have any updates for us and I hope you and the rest of your team stay safe and healthy.

I'd comment on that, but it might be considered a breach of non-disclosure. Sort of like the old joke about somebody calling the Prime Minister an idiot, and getting arrested for violating the State Secrets Act.

@SomeOldGuy What we think happened is Amazon is relying on a lot more automatic processes since fewer people are able to work. We believe they raised the threshold for flags that need to be checked by real humans, so a lot more automatic flags/blocks are going through, and that's what's causing some books to be automatically removed. So the process of disputing them is also time-consuming and they're probably slammed, so takes longer to resolve each issue.

@myskaros they're still missing. All kindle versions of Light Novel aren't available anymore.
