      Name: Heavy Object

Publisher: - Dengeki Bunko (ASCII Media Works)

      Date: October 10, 2009 - ongoing (15 volumes)

      Author: Kazuma Kamachi

      Illustrators: Nagiryo

Synopsis: In the end, war couldn't be extinguished. But, there was a transformation. Even in the heart of a worthless accomplice in murder who was indifferently continuing his task, there was a transformation. The massive weapon "Object". This was a weapon that changed the whole definition of war. An exchange student named Kwenser, who was dispatched to the battlefield, met at the base a girl with a strange aura. The girl, dubbed "Elite", is the pilot of "Object". The near future. This diminutive boy had come to take on the role of standing up against the strongest weapon "Object" for the sake of the girl. This was the motive for their first meeting.

Reason: Good Light Novel for those who are into science fiction, mecha e.g A Certain Magical Index, Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon and Knight's & Magic (hardcore fan science fiction and mecha ) ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°). Plus I would like to know what happen next from anime or read from the beginning for full experience.

P.S I'm surprised no one suggested this yet. Maybe I'm from old generation...

Actually, I considered posting this as a suggestion about 3 hours ago, as I re-watched episodes 10-12 of the anime.

Wikipedia says there are 16 books as of December 2018. 11 of them have been fan-translated that I've found.

Publisher is Dengeki Bunko. Two manga adaptations and the 24-episode anime that Funimation sells.

If JNC ever gets this, I'd definitely read it and get the ebook if it hooks me enough. Although I'm surprised YP hasn't picked this up considering they got Index (since same author and all) but doesn't stop anyone else from getting this either.

@harunachiep From what I've heard the Index books aren't selling particularly well so maybe that has been deterring them from licensing his other series.

@eternal-wanderer I've had the impression that the Index books won't do well with the Western audience and I'm surprised it turn out to be true.

@shrike_al I think it's less it won't do well and more there is a very well known and dedicated fan translation. The last season being rushed probably didn't help matters. Though mind you I don't have any definitive source that it isn't doing well, I've just read some comment online.

At last check, the LN fan translation is up to 16 or 17. If this was picked up, my biggest concern would be the translation of the names of organizations and factions. The anime, both official sub and dub, translated the names perhaps... too literally maybe? They sounded kinda weird and dodgy compared to the more flowing names used by the fan translations of the novels. JNC could probably do it decently if they gave proper thought to the naming but i doubt YP could pull it off.

It seems this series has been announced to end in October 2021 with the 20th volume.

Strangely, I was thinking about the episode of the anime where Villany was going to blow up the dam earlier today, and maybe I should re-watch it this weekend...

I'm still wondering when someone'll pick this up or if we'll end up with a 'Highschool DxD' scenario where it gets picked up many, many years later.
