      Synopsis (from Kodansha)

Both touched by spirits called yokai, Kotoko and Kuro have gained unique superhuman powers. But to gain her powers Kotoko has given up an eye and a leg, and Kuro’s personal life is in shambles. So when Kotoko suggests they team up to deal with renegades from the spirit world, Kuro doesn’t have many other choices, but Kotoko might just have a few ulterior motives…

Why do I want this series?

Kodansha has been releasing the manga in English for a while, and it has been a lot of fun. The story mixes a supernatural/mystery story with cool characters and good comedy timing.

This novel however is the original source, and it would be nice to have.

Aside from that, an anime has just been announced! The author is also known for Blast of Tempest and Spiral, among other stories.

      Give Quof a break!
WHAT'S THE STORY WITH THAT FREAKING BLACK DRAGON?!

I remember reading the manga for this series. It was pretty neat. I'd definitely read the novel version to see if there were any differences.

Spotlight time! A friendly bump to an older post that hasn't had any recent conversation and is lower on votes in order to draw attention to it.

@jon-mitchell I've heard the manga has a far less rushed and more fleshed out story, and is better in every way. At least that's what Hako told me.

Novel series is not completed with 1 Vol. it contiued with Short Story Vol.( Appearance of Kotoko Iwanaga) and 3rd one released in 2019 called Sleeping Murder which is now being adapted into a manga (for manga it took 2 years just t adapt 1st vol. so it took a while to write another Overcomplicated sequel)

                        YES PLEASE.

Watched the first episode of the anime and instantly fell in love with the series, It didn't take much to get me to read the manga. I'd totally pick this up if they get the novels.

I was a little confused when looking into this one, because from what I could find it says the light novels started in 2011 but only have 3 volumes while the manga started in 2015 and already have 11 volumes.

Did the author decide to focus on the manga instead or are those novels much longer than regular light novels or what?

I was trying to figure out if this was one of those rare cases where the manga was the more 'complete' version.

@chubby-penguin no it took 2 years just to adapt the First vol. then it took almost 2 years to adapt the 2nd vol which are short stories and now it is adapting the 3rd novel

@theredjet Ah ok. That ratio between light novels and manga was just so different from what I usually see that I wasn't quite sure what was going on.
