    Anime Expo Licensing Hopes

Ok guys Anime Expo 2019 is next week all the major light novel and manga producers will be there, and more than likely they will announce there new licenses.

So what’s your top 5 licenses you hope get picked up

    1. Kuro no Shoukanshi “Black Summoner” I know kind of a tropy Isekai title but I love the humor and adult tone

    2. Buta Koushaku ni Tensei Shitakara, Kondo wa Kimi ni Suki to Iitai “Piggy Duke this time I’ll say I love you” fun Isekai title with a different kind of MC

    3. Maou desu. Onna Yuusha no Hahaoya to Saikonshita no de, Onna Yuusha ga Giri no Musume ni narimashita “I'm a Demon Lord. My Second Marriage was with the Hero's Mother, and the Hero Became my Stepdaughter” A fun slice of life fantasy story

    4. Arafoo Kenja no Isekai Seikatsu Nikki “ The Diary Of A Sage Around 40 Living In Another World” Rare non harem Isekai with an older MC

    5. Takarakuji de 40-oku Atattandakedo Isekai ni Ijuu Surui “I Won 4 Billion in a Lottery But I Went to Another World” an interesting story where the mc users the millions he won in the lotto to help a fantasy world. Rare story we’re the Mc can move in between thee two worlds .

      Personally, I'm hoping for:

      • The girl Who ate death god and if possible it's parent story The girl who bore the flame ring, both are great war stories with a ruthless female protagonist.
      • Shinsekai Yori It's a story similar to Brave New World, with good character (especially the antagonist) and themes.
      • Anything TypeMoon, apparently, for some reason it's hard to license those. Fate Zero, Kara no Kyoukai or Lord El-Melloi II-sei no Jikenbo would be great but honestly anything would be cool, even Prisma Illya
      • Boku wa Nandomo Umarekawaru because it's from Grimgar author and the blurb sound interesting.
      • Sevens it's an interesting war story, with a really big harem but one that makes sense since it's mostly political marriage and the girls are fighting each other for power and influence.

Do you like death, war and misery ?
Do you like badass op loli who let nobody got in their way ?
      Do you like vengeance story?
If so then then vote for The girl who ate a death god

        1. Kino's Journey (also my super-long shot)
        2. The Death Mage Who Doesn't Want a Fourth Time
        3. Majo no Tabitabi (I've heard this one is like Kino's Journey but with magic so if I can't have that...)
        4. or lower: I don't really have any other novel series I'm familiar enough with to really want. From the premises and the little I've heard from other people I'm interested in The Pharmacist's Monologue, The Magician of the Staircase, My Cursed Bridegroom, Cop Craft, Common Sense of a Duke's Daughter, The Most Irresponsible Man in Space, in no particular order.

I'm not really interested in seeing manga adaptations of LNs, but if I had to pick some (non-adaptation) manga I'd like to see The World is Still Beautiful or anything by Shin Mashiba, author of 夢喰見聞 (yumekui kenbun), English title Nightmare Inspector, and Yokai Shop, who is my all-time favorite manga author that no one knows about.

Things I'd like to see less of: harems and other series with poor gender balance. If they have good story I may read them regardless, but they're unlikely to ever be my favorites and I think they tend to be lower quality in general.

Series I absolutely DON'T want to see licensed: anything with revenge rape in it

License Wishlist: Kino's Journey, Crest/Banner anthology, SukaMoka
Favorite JNC Series (tried): Bookworm, Faraway Paladin, Infinite Dendrogram, Grimgar, Crest/Banner of the Stars, Der Werwolf, The Skull Dragon's Precious Daughter, Apothecary Diaries

"You asked for Fate/Zero so we're giving you Prisma Illya" sounds like high-level trolling.

And as for licenses, I just want for some romcoms to be among them.

Perhaps Yen Press licensed Seishun Buta LNs since they have the manga. I want to think that JNC can grab Akashic Records LNs as well but we'll see.

          Give Quof a break!
WHAT'S THE STORY WITH THAT FREAKING BLACK DRAGON?!

I just want Seven Seas to license the 4-volume A Certain Idol Accelerator manga (spin-off of A Certain Scientific Accelerator).

And that some older series (read: 2000s) get licensed or license-rescued.

I'd say something about JNC getting Twintails, but considering Gagaga just now started allowing digitals, it's gonna be a while before Sam strikes a deal for it.

My light novel counter (EN & JP) for series published by Yen On / JNC / Seven Seas

@yumenokage you Death Mage was almost on my list, I’m still pretty shocked it has yet to be picked up due to its rather large fan base it’s seems it would be a sure fire hit

True, it would be infuriating, but at least it would give hope for some of TypeMoon better series to be licensed.

If I don’t have any hopes then there will be no chance of them being dashed....

That being said I actually am not “hoping” for any title in particular I just want something “good” to read, and the only way I can say something is “good” to me is to actually read it, so regardless of what is licensed by whom I will be happy with anything.

Sorry but J-Novel Club does not publicly comment on any potential licensing decision or acquisitions.

I have certain series I'd like licensed too, but I don't want to get my hopes up. So instead, all I wish for is more genre variety than just fantasy, like more rom-coms.

Mine are Chivalry of a Failed Knight, Death Mage, Only Sense Online, Assassin's Pride, Cop Craft, Gosick (rescue) and Shield Heroine. I'll be honest though and I don't expect any of them to be picked up, unfortunately. Also moderately interested in Rust-Eater Bisco.

My hopes would be for manga titles, since I'm not well versed in what novels are out there. And I prefer dead tree versions for Manga... ebook versions are kind of useless on the "real" Kindle, which means getting out one of the tablets to read them.

For my number 1 choice, I would like Tonikaku Kawaii... Same author as Hayate the Combat Butler. Just put in a request to one of my vendors for the first 6 volumes in Japanese.

Guess I could also hope for official translated versions of:
Kanojo no Kagi o Akeru Houhou (complete 9 volumes)
Okusama ga Seito Kaichou! (I think it's complete at 13)
Hen na Jyoshi Kousei Amaguri Senko (11 and counting)

                        "But the blueprints..."

Rather than just posting what I want licensed, here's what I'm kind of expecting is licensed and set to be announced.

                          • Seishun Buta Yarou Series - Yen Press probably has it since they got the manga. Their panel is on Thursday.
                          • Shield Heroine - Sam mentioned once that he made a bid on it on the discord. This was around the time the anime was announced.
                          • New Print Announcements - I'm guessing he'll announce some new prints for some series. Perhaps as part of a deal for some new Kadokawa titles. I'm hoping for some stuff from ASCII Media Works.
                          • New Kadokawa Titles - All we've had so far from Fujimi Shobo are Amaburi and FMP so I'm expecting a new license from them as well as maybe something from Enterbrain which we've only had Kokoro Connect from.
                          • Marginal Operation - Since the manga was licensed, I'm expecting the LN to get licensed.
                          • Crow Record: Infinite Denrogram Another - Maybe a simulpub announcement for this series. Either that, or for Seven Seas to get the license. If it gets licensed, it's gonna be weird since the manga publisher is Media Factory which is Kadokawa. So it'll be weird if it's stolen by YP or SS since J-NC has the LN. Although it wouldn't be the first time since all of the Arifureta manga are licensed by Seven Seas.

Can confirm that Majo no Tabitabi is magical Kino's Journey.

Would love The Irresponsible Captain Taylor as well. The anime had me in stitches.

                              1. Sponger Life
                              2. Shield Heroine (I Hate Being In Pain, So I Put All My Points into Defense).
                              3. Attacking the Dungeon With My Beautiful Boss is OT Work.
                              4. Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl.
                              5. Light-Novel (Welcome to the NHK author).

Bizarre Love Triangle or Shave the Beard, Pick up the Girl are others I wouldn't mind seeing licensed.

(I'd love ZoaHunter most of all, but realistically I don't expect it to ever get picked up since it's older and no anime).

                                Without any specific order:
                                Zero no Tsukaima
Hige wo Soru. Soshite Joshikousei wo Hirou.
                                Risou no Himo Seikatsu
Jishou akuyaku reijouna konyakusha no kansatsu kiroku (Observation Record of a Self-proclaimed Villainess’ Fiance) (I'm surprised there's no suggestion topic for it. Basically, it's an earlier and better version of Bakarina.)
                                Oda Nobuna no Yabou
Also would love to see something old, obscure and crazy.

@terrence I didn’t realize the NHK guy has a new book out! I loved NHK and was bummed when he did little else afterwards. It was all a little depressing because it really sounded as though NHK May have been more autobiographical than was healthy and he’d fallen into depression and isolation. I hope he’s got his life together and is happy and able to write more.
