@smashman42 I cast it on tv when I am watching with other ppl or when I won't be disturbing them, other than that I watch in my room. I have also had problems with PS4 CR and the app CR, both of witch I can do in my room.

Maybe I'm just old AF then, it's my house so if I wanna watch hentai loud on the big screen who is gonna stop me? So anime on TV is a no brainer. Guess I didn't factor in different living conditions.

I am going to start the whole high seas discussion here. Whether you like it or not it is a big part of this that can't be ignored. I am not going to directly name any pirate sites or pit in links but when there is an anime that I want to watch but there is no legal way for me to watch It, I will use the high seas. If it is available on YouTube without any of that high pitched sound and bordered screen I will watch it there, however I am willing to watch it at other sites; Though I absolutely hate that XOXO site and would rather watch on any other site (I want to protect my devices using ad-block on shady sites and I will not allow A-holes infect them).

@tremorc good news! funimation is no longer part of vrv coming soon. Even better: HiDive is coming as a replacement! which means hidive on ios!

@gocav Most likely the majority of https://www.crunchyroll.com/publisher/funimation, minus anything that aired in the last ~2 years that the partnership lasted. I don't think they've announced a list so far. Though, living in Germany, a grand total of zero titles from Funimation were on Crunchyroll for me, so I haven't paid much attention.

Really hope this split up results in CR getting Bang Zoom to dub Konosuba. I really want to own that on BD.

UPDATE - I subscribed to a flavor of CR (In December) that also gets me VRV, I'm liking the no commercials thing and much of HiDive's content appears to be available via VRV. So only Funimation titles are ones that they decide to post on HULU or that are also on CR, so far there's more to watch than I have hours in the day...

I have officially canceled my CR subscription. This is due to many reasons but mostly because I do not want to Support CR and what they stand for. I rather support content that prioritizes their content and audience experience (One of the biggest reasons why I have stayed with JNC).
Edit: I don't care too much if a service has some sort of political bias or something (every one has them). But if they make it part of their agenda and prioritize that over a good experience then I start to care (especially if they are being deceptive with it).

ok, pardon my ignorance, what does Crunchyroll 'stand for' politically? From what I can tell they are a cog in AT&T's corporate media oligarchy (and Funimation was part of Comcast/ Universal, now part of Sony , Amazon and Netflix are corporate giants in their own rights, HULU is 'getting there') Big corporations, in my experience, rarely have political agendas that extend beyond adding to their bottom lines- and they ALL suck. I don't like how they tried to gut net neutrality and regulations etc. but I can't say that I was surprised.
from what I can tell, only HIDIVE is 'independent' - but unless I want to sail the high seas- are there choices beyond 'BigCorpX' or HIDIVE (which has a greatly reduced library)??

@jon-mitchell well It is more about how much priority they put into their service and whatnot. If we take certain news sources as examples. Who ever is telling the news will have their own bias and that is fine. They may interpret any event towards their bias and that is still fine. What is not fine is when they "edit" the news to suit there own agenda. I was planning to unsub since the Hi guardian thingy fiasco, but didn't because I was in the middle of a season but then other anime O wanted to watch was on their service. I then decided to make a decision NOW and stick with it so I looked back at all the things CR has done or said in PR and stuff. Stuff like getting a better player only when their old one was gonna be dead and that the "beta" sub was not really a beta sub as how long had they had he buffering and whatnot? I decided to only sub to services that cares about their audience.

got it: service quality, buffering, updating the player... all reasons I can wrap my head around. I'm relatively new to my otaku-ness so I'm not in the loop with much of CR's history.
I try to evaluate my purchasing decisions on the quality of the product service that I am paying for and not the marketing fluff/ perception of the brand
I once had someone tell me with a straight face that he'd never buy a Subaru car because too many lesbians drive them. I thought he was kidding, he wasn't.
I mean unless profits are going to fund human rights atrocities, or some other form of evil, corporations are all the same. My dollars go to where I judge the product/service best meets my needs.
I personally can't get behind any of the piracy sites however. I have yet to hear a compelling argument for not using a 'legit' service that compensates the creators. That being said, if you live in a part of the world where that is your only option, I don't judge either.

The reason ppl use piracy sites is because it is a better service. There is no reason to pirate shonen jump manga anymore for example. If CR had an affordable high-consistent quality and always airs an episode on time less people would pirate anime. If CR made it so a free member can watch the latest episode of an anime the week it came out with ads at the right spots (ex. mid-way commercial break) I would use that service. JNC does something similar with the prepubs and shonen jump makes it so you can read the latest 3 chapters for free.

If CR does not have a region lock then I wouldn't mind paying for their services. As long as region lock exists only selected anime can be viewed. I feel it unfair to pay the same amount as someone from the other side of the globe and he/she has more content to view than me.JNC LN Ranking:
