Hi! I wanted to buy a membership but the only available payment method as far as I can see is a credit card, which I don’t have. So now the only options I have are to go to my mum and use her card, which is honestly kind of a bother, or to wait till other payment options become available.

So my suggestion would be to add other payment methods such as PayPal. This would make it easier to buy memberships, since not everyone has a credit card, which will probably get you more members too.

If you search for "payment options", you can find a number of previous discussions on this.

Short version: The payment processor that JNC uses, Stripe, is a direct competitor of PayPal, and does not accept PP.

They do accept debit card payments, though.

Also, to minimize the number of transactions, you CAN purchase credits in advance, rather than one at a time.

If you reside in the US I highly recommend using a virtual payment card provider like Privacy although I would imagine that there should be other options available outside the US.

I'd much rather see J-Novel Club accept cryptocurrency but I'm skeptical about the possibilities of that happening.

I feel like crypto is unlikely given how volatile it is, I suppose it does have a benefit that all the transaction fees are born by the person sending the money though.

@someoldguy thanks!! I was being dumb when I posted this comment apparently cause I couldn't find a search bar, but I've found it now haha.
I've read them but I don't think there's a working option for me right now. I don't wish to buy credits cause I want to read the weekly updates of a book and (to my understanding? honestly im not sure) you can only use the credits to buy books.

Debit card also isn't an option for me. I don't really know exactly if my card is debit or not (I'm from the Netherlands and it's called differently here I think?) but I tried if I could fill in the information of my card, but I couldn't find a card number that would fit in the box.

Yes, credits are used to purchase the final books. However, if you do want to both own the book and also follow the translations week to week, preordering a book on our site to own will give you access to read the parts as they're posted!

As for your larger question, as SomeOldGuy stated, PayPal currently is not an option for us because our payment provider is Stripe. We are looking into additional payment options, but there is no estimated timeframe on when those will become available. We're sorry for the inconvenience!

@myskaros Thank you for the response!! And no worries I was just kinda saddened by the fact I couldn't find anything that worked for me at first haha but all is good. I'll try buying credits to preorder the book then cause I can't wait to continue reading the story! <3

I'll also be patiently waiting for future options! :3

@raju-l74rvaj You can get a subscription for just one month, get a shit ton of credits and then wait for the subscription to run out. Your credits will still be valid, and you can use them to pre-order books to unlock their respective pre-pubs. If buying more than 5 credits, getting a premium membership before the 15th would save you even more, since you get a free credit for your subscription along with another one on the 15th, and credits get a 1$ discount.
