According to the translator (who started up again), the author has announced Volume 9 will be the last in the series.

I finally got a chance to finish reading it.
Without any spoilers, I'll just say that I was happy to find out that the author gave a proper closed ending to the series. -
I suspect the author wanted to write more but wasn't allowed to. Still, we got a proper closure for this series. I don't know if this is popular enough for JNC to consider licensing, especially with a completed fan translation, but one can always hope.
