Just to clear things up here:

@Raitoiro looks like @Sven-Stevenson-9cpdcgz was replying to @DjinnFor about Bookworm, but clicked your reply field by mistake.

Deathbound was good. Might finish SOAP and check out the ID manga. Looks like a light month for me this time. I managed to finish tearmoon last month but only completed the first two volumes last minute of the white cats revenge series so ill have to wait to finish that one. T.T guess otherwise I'll take the time to catch up on some other series I let pile up a bit while trying to read what I wanted to last month lol

Decided to begin reading Smartphone, definitely enjoying it so far. It'll probably take me most of the month to get through knowing me, especially since I've also got the other series I'm trying to keep up with.

Oh, right, the poison, the poison for Kuzco, the poison chosen especially to kill Kuzco, Kuzco's poison. ...That poison?

I'll throw in my recommendations for both SOAP and Deathbound.

SOAP was a refreshing take on the isekai genre... the setting is your typical isekai - hero summoned from another world (high school girl from Japan, of course) to save a fantasy medieval kingdom from the invasion of monsters. Except the main character isn't the summoned hero, but a laundry maid from the castle who is seeing it all happen from afar, and then gets unexpectedly caught up in it. It's got the full suite of action, adventure, intrigue, friendship, and romance. I really really enjoyed reading it.

I really enjoyed Deathbound Duke's Daughter as well, but others on this thread have already said anything I could say about it, so I'd be redundant to talk about it :-)

@HarmlessDave said in Hunker Down for the Holidays with December Catchups!:

The anime also stops right before the main arc of the series (the Phrase).

Just like the anime for Rokujouma.

@pcj Yeah, I really liked how SOAP took the "summoned isekai protagonist" story setup and played with it by shifting the viewpoint character. Made for an interesting twist on the premise.

I also really liked the ending, it was super sweet and... well, let's just say I'm a sucker for diabetes-inducing endings.

When I'm in the mood for the hard copies, I avoid Amazon and use rightstufanime.com, been using them for several years for my family. They go on sale relatively often enough during the year and they're on-sale now on that site. Hope that helps. Best to get a gotanime membership for further discounts if you're planning on ordering a bunch. Wait for the publisher's sales if you miss the holiday sale.

Deathbound Duke's Daughter is a good story.

In Another World With My Smartphone anime wasn't bad. I'm not interesting in knowing more of the story though. I mean the main character is way OP so I don't see how knowing more of the story matters.

Outer Ragna I already read. I enjoyed how they told this story and narratted it. It's fun trying to figure out what's going on with the characters.

The Extraordinary, the Ordinary, and SOAP! at first I found to be quite interesting, but I lost interest toward the end of the first Light Novel.

All of this means this month's catchup presents nothing for me to catchup on at all.

@Heldawn I think the protagonist being immensely OP is actually part of what's keeping me invested in Smartphone, especially since he (a) realizes it and (b) tries to solve his problems in such a way that he doesn't wind up with the "Oh, we live in Metropolis, Superman can save us" problem that would naturally follow so many other protagonists. Plus the fact that his battle harem actually fights a large number of the battles.

Oh boy, it looks like some of the things that I’ve wanted to catch up on are back again and I’m excited. Now to figure out which series I’m going to buy first, oh this premium membership is a slippery slope.

Hi everyone, hope you're enjoying your end-of-year holidays! Sorry for the late reminder, but since we're all gonna be up for the new year anyway, catchups will be changing on Friday in the early hours US time, so you only have a couple days left to read December catchups!
