Holy Grail of Eris is a somewhat popular short 3 volume series from GA Bunko / SB Creative.

The plot is focused on a blonde viscount's daughter who is helping a raven haired deceased Villainess back from the dead as a ghost find the man responsible for the Villainess' execution ten years prior to the start of the story.

      Synopsis from NU:

      spoiler

Not too much to say on this one other than it's complete and I would like to be able to read it in English. Its got a fantastical element (ghost), its got the Royal setting, but then it also has some mystery. Each book is around 400 pages long in the Japanese editions.

Based on just some of the art, I hazard a guess that the main girl Connie is given more confidence by the villainess, so Connie gets to sort of get back at the girls that would normally make fun of her with advice from the villainess. May be a kind of a give and take relationship, not just Connie doing the heavy lifting for no gain. I suspect the villainess' brother is a love interest for Connie too, but again, just basing this on a similarly dark haired dude's existence. I just really want to read the published novels so I can find out.

Sounds interesting. It sounds like it's a win-win situation in that Connie will gain confidence and the villainess can pass on when the mystery is solved?

Trying to remember why the plot sounds familiar to me but for the life of me, I can't recollect it.

If anyone is interested, there's an interview with the author here in Japanese (joint interview with Is it Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon author too I think). Has a lot of the art from volume 1 too throughout the article.

The manga adaptation (https://www.ganganonline.com/contents/erisu/) is impressive because unlike most monthly manga which have around 24 pages or even less, it has 40+ pages.

              Figured I'd bump this up.
Overall I am a big fan. It is basically a mystery but also has some great characterizations.
Honestly I think this would be a great license. It is a short, completed series with an ending that ties everything up neatly.
I'd like a legit translation just to support the author.

The manga adaption got licensed in Germany, I can't wait to read it! I really would like to read the novel too, please license it J-Novel Club!!!
Overall the novel reminds me a bit of Pandora Hearts, maybe it's the dark touch and the mystery part the story has?
