I've been chasing Smartphones unreliable release for a couple of weeks now. It was Thursdays for a bit, now it can't seem to pick a day.

I'm really trying to stay subscribed as I try to merit the expense of the preview site model you got going. I currently only read 2-3 of your titles having already eliminated a few as well for not keeping my interest.

Plus I already bought ebooks to support the titles when i found out you have premium versions, so I would have to rebuy those volumes.

All this frustration is adding up. However being repeatedly disappointed on scheduled release day constantly moving is getting harder to shrug off.

@readingsteiner said in In Another World With My Smartphone Vol. 6 Discussion:

Yeah, sorry guys... Small delay on this part still on account of me recovering from being sick and having emergency dental work. This will be the last delay, however.

I understand your frustration, as I've been waiting too, but the translator has communicated several times that he is working on it, but has been sick. It's unfortunate, but at least they're talking to us.

Yeah, RL happens. Even with a few schedule slips, it's far better than most fan translators. :) And dentists suck, give 'em time to recover.

@legitpancake at the time of that post it had been scheduled for yesterday evening and was delayed until today. So it apparently wasn't the last delay since it has now been delayed until tomorrow. I understand being sick causing a delay but it's irritating when they try to claim it will be one or two days and have to delay it multiple times instead of just saying it'll be, say, 5 days in the first place.

I'm not too forum savy yet so I haven't seen "all" the updates from the translator.
Sorry about his troubles, hope he's well soon work aside.

Bright side it forced to dig through the site more and figure out what really is offered by JNovel. The site is kind of daunting. Plus I started reading Blue steel for now so I guess I'm set.

              Get well soon.

@d-l Yea, Bluesteel and Realist Hero are available to read in their entirety without buying the ebooks this whole month of December. Realist Hero might be boring to some people, but I found it fascinating.

@D-L If you dig Smartphone's light and fluffy sort of vibe you'll most likely dig Realist Hero too (only slightly more serious in tone), free to catch up this month.

It is pretty daunting to get into it and figure out how it all works. I held off on subscribing for ages but then pulled the pin for the launch titles catch up month (for Grimgar) and have rebought all of Smartphone premium for the extra short stories, then bought Realist and Dendro too, now Outbreak Company... Basically whatever is free on catch up I'll read and anything I like enough to re-read I'm getting premium now.

@legitpancake I was good with realist till book four and then I lost interest. I don't think the author has a grasp on the mechanics of harem light novel.
The politics and tech stuff is still a good read, they probably should have focused on that.

@terrence Primarily a consistent ,and this is Realists problem to me, obstacle to intimacy with the females. Realist keeps changing the obstacle, and then there's even monologue about how he frustrated in regards to them.
I've screamed at the pages more than once telling him to make up his mind. The one about birth mortality was a great hurdle and could have been a justifiable impedance for many pages. But then it was cast aside almost as soon as it was noted.

In Smartphone he just set them down and told them he wasn't ready. Done and done everyone moved on. In DXD its constant ill timed interruptions and now Karma of sorts, in Vanadis its distance. It just seems Realist doesn't think that established deterrent is as important as it is.

I'm still kind of reading it, but i cringe anytime he talks about the girls.

That doesn't seem to stop Yumina from ending up in his bed. I can picture her marking days off of a calendar until Touya turns 18. The only girl that's outdone her on insisting that Touya marry her is Sue, but you could chalk that up to panicked desperation.

It's not much of a challenge to say who will be the first and last of the girls to get married.

I'm still kind of reading it, but i cringe anytime he talks about the girls.

I'm still working on volume 1, but what I've seen so far gives me a slight sense of nervousness.

Ah. This is a real problem for me with Bluesteel Blasphemer's forced lead heroine. The guy is not doing anything, but since a woman is trying to get close to him, even just emotionally, she's there to block it. I already dislike you for being the forced lead, now you're being possessive of a man who you aren't even in a romantic relationship with yet? Does the author want the audience to hate you? =/

I guess I didn't really see that with Soma in Realist until the latest volume.

@paul-nebeling if you are talking about Realist, it’s a nice read and keep in mind it’s his opinion. You and everyone else is entitled to their own as am I. IMO I feel the opposite as I dropped smartphone half way through volume one. Not sure if I’ll pick it up again. As for Bluesteel I agree with Terrence. Which was why I dropped it volume 3 I’ll pick it up again but that’s when I’m bored. RH has it’s cringe moments but I think that’s in just some parts to it but it’s a fun relaxing read. These 3 are probably the only ones I mentioned because it’s the current 3 that were mentioned. As I said before just because some might like it or not doesn’t mean you should do the same. So just enjoy what you like and don’t be nervous about it XD . Just like it has bad reviews it has good.

@terrence TBH I still don’t really see it, and if there is it isn’t as big of a deal as Bluesteel. Although I wish he would have a kid already.

Things would be better if we just got rid of the harem genre permanently desuu nee? :3

@imilyaz I think there should be a harem protagonist where all the girls in his harem also have their own personal reverse harems...and all those reverse harms guys were isekaied to this world to fight the demon lord or somthing somthing cliche.

Sorry but J-Novel Club does not publicly comment on any potential licensing decision or acquisitions.

                                      @rahul-balaggan omg I'd love that

Somehow, reverse harem doesn't annoy me as much. But that's probably just because of my personal issues.

Like, how can multiple girls just throw themselves(not literally, they're not boomerangs lmao. Im sure you got it but i just feel so talkative today) over a guy like that, like like like where is your self respect!? And then and then the Mc most of the time doesn't pick a girl but they keep following him even though. And what happened to their own goals and passions? Why do they always need to be saved? Why do they fall in love with him because he showed them just a little bit kindness?

Those thoughts later end up as "i treat both girls and boys with respect, i know how to spin a pen and then catch it. Im also an introverted MC. Im also dense. So so so where is my harem???"

                                      TL;DR
I dislike harem because I'm jealous of the harem MC. (I-I'm just j-joking o-okay?)

So much I want to comment on in this...

Steiner has done a great job on the series's translation. There's been a few slips in the weekly releases, but he was sick and needed a bit of time. I'm more than happy to wait a little longer for his work.

I don't mind harem stories, but I find most stories have a hard time actually incorporating the girls into the story and actually developing the relationships. There's a lot of good, interesting conflict that come out after the relationships have started than being perpetually stuck before it.

With Bluesteel Blasphemer I felt like the harem was counter productive to the plot. The protagonist's motivation was protecting his one remaining family member in that new world. Everything else was secondary to that and trying to have other girls cozy up to him was clumsy and distracting. I'm not convinced he'll bite (have yet to read volume 4), and I haven't been since volume 2. The harem element felt tacked onto an otherwise interesting premise for the sake of sales by having a cast of cute girls.

With Realist Hero, I can't say too much. I only read volume 1, because it's the only series on here that broke my suspension of disbelief. There's no way an 18 to 20 year old knows as much as he does and is that capable of an administrator. Also, hero or not, politics doesn't work that way. It wouldn't matter how spectacular he is, there are people who aren't going to appreciate you coming in and changing their system no matter how much better it is, because it's theirs. They will drag their heels, sabotage, and interfere with you every step of the way.

However, I don't think all harems are bad. Some of the better eroge do good jobs with them. On this site, Invaders of the Rokujoma is probably the best harem. The girls are well incorporated into the story and while the relationships develop slowly, they do develop.

You should try the next few volumes. This is a major factor in the story, it's not ignored.

@imilyaz I agree with you on everything but I don’t think it’s so much that the MC shows a little bit of kindness it’s that he shows the right kind of kindness.

                                            Realist Hero:
Liscia falls in Love cause of how hard He works to save a country that pretty much screwed him by summing him here

Juna falls in love because of the way he governs, use everyone’s talents and thei land will prosper, he showed that it don’tatter man, women, Demi, etc if you are useful he will use you(and abuse you)

Roroa falls in love cause she just cant keep up with him, she is a very smart intellectual girl, but when she saw the things he did she was swept off her feet.

Aisha...honestly I just think he won her over with her stomach...

Same things can apply for novels and manga alike
