I somewhat skipped this one due to the weird title and the relation to "Potion Loli". In fact, if you enter "potion loli" in the google.de search, the first result you get is a warning, that abuse of children is illegal...

Therefore I was quite surprised about the very enjoyable writing style, after I picked up the series three days ago. It feels so good to read an isekai without a harem part, and with the point of view of a heroine. While the illustrations are still not my cup of tea, I quickly discard to focus to much on the fact that the heroine is so young of age - in her new body with overall 31 years of lifetime.

I can give a good praise for the series. It shows me especially how good interludes and side stories can be, after my disappointment with "If It’s for My Daughter, I’d Even Defeat a Demon Lord". Seeing the author FUNA and their editor quite superior in managing the chronology of how the story goes on.

    What do you think?
And does anyone else wonders when the author or translator is going to use the pun "that the party is always a Mile ahead" of others?

Fun fact: until yesterday I did not know that there was a parody/gag anime adaption of said novel. I would be interested in an actual anime adaption, but the parody - I imagine - somewhat suits the author's humour...

I hope it does not take too long before the next novel releases. Being left in the middle of monster hunting at the mountainsides is quite a cliffhanger...

My take on the LN is very simple

      I like Mile
      I like Marcela
      I like Monika
      I like Aureana

      I hate everyone else

Sorry but J-Novel Club does not publicly comment on any potential licensing decision or acquisitions.

        That sounds weird...
Though, I am somewhat hoping they really come together in the future as a big party. I already anticipated Leatoria to join them. Yet I am also somewhat glad that the standard party dynamic did not change that sudden with someone they barely know.

FUNA is definitely a good writer. In terms of quality, I would put both of their series right behind Ascendance of a Bookworm (Sorry, but there aren't really any competitors there, FUNA).

Abilities Average feels very much like a play ground with a long term plan to me. Not sure what the plan is, but there are a fair number of characters that seem to be waiting for a chance to shine in the main story, and three separate mysteries that need long term resolutions.

After that cliffhanger, of an ending though... 3/26 can't come soon enough. Fortunately, there are plenty of books (and entirely too many math problems) to keep me occupied.

Potions is definitely simpler to keep track of, but

          spoiler
(that would make things significantly more complicated). That and I really want to see Prince Fernand get another comeuppance.

Spoiler since that was revealed at the end of the first second volume of Potion Loli:

              @harmlessdave That spoiler doesn't happen until volume 2. I know; I looked yesterday. :)

D'oh! Thanks for the correction, it's been awhile. It was at the end of, uh, some volume :)

                  Yeah, I should change that.

Started reading the new book. Going to avoid spoilers, but with FUNA's sense of humor, there is a cheeky nod to Ascendance of a Bookworm thrown in.

In both of the FUNA's series that I can get at, the author loves to make obscure references.

And they also decided to poke fun at translators (English-to-Japanese)

@piisfun - It was another fun one, though it didn't have me laughing out loud like in the last one at Mile's antics in the pop-up food market for the retreating soldiers

I did like the Ascendence of the Bookworm joke in this one.

'Twas a good book. However, tripping over the occasional errors, I was reminded it wasn't a JNC title, 'cuz most of them would not have survived the prepub process. :)

Looking forward to the resolution of Mavis's declaration.

@SomeOldGuy Yeah. Was an unexpected end for me; given the comedic nature of the series, I’d half expected her to get back to the others and find out that they’d made some kind of breakthrough that left her feeling further behind...

...Cats are the proof of a higher purpose to the universe.

                                @piisfun I don't get this one and I didn't catch the bookworm ones :(

I did love the camel joke though, I had to do some translating to get the pun but the payoff was worth it 😁

@trashboat It was about "grey matter" in English being mistranslated as "little ashen cells" in Japanese.

As for the Bookworm joke, just run a search in the book for "librarian" and you will find it.

@piisfun thanks! I totally missed that I'll have to look for it. I have the physicals of this series so a full search might be tough but I'll try to find a way, I can't be missing jokes!

                                    Really appreciate it

I’m about a third of the way through volume 8 and am thoroughly enjoying being back in this world. It’s so lightweight even giant wars seem to just drift by pleasantly like clouds in a blue sky. Happy volume 9 is ready for me when I finish.

@the-green-death I doubt it really counts as a spoiler: both volumes 8 and 9 end with nasty cliffhangers.
